REPORT: The victim in this case was a juvenile residing at a children’s home; the minor entered a local school property in order to use the available WIFI connection. While on-site at the public access area of the school premises, the youth was assaulted and the computer was stolen. Several months passed before the device connected to the Internet, and the signal was located across the border in Mexico. Absolute Software detectives in the Latin American bureau monitored the device for many months, until it connected from a U.S. signal. At that time, the domestic Investigations team took over the case and began utilizing Absolute Forensic Tools to collect evidence against the suspected user. The information was transferred to local law enforcement agencies, the suspected user was located and the stolen laptop was recovered.
