COMPUTER SYSTEM FUNDAMENTAL
INPUT DEVICES
INPUT DEVICES ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
GRAPHICS TABLET
☺ Much more natural to draw
diagrams with the pencil type
implement (the stylus) rather
than with a mouse.
☺ A great level of accuracy
can be achieved
☺ Advanced models detect
subtle changes in pressure, to
enable thicker lines to be draw.
☺ large desk area need
☺ Price is more expensive
☺ Not really suitable for general
selection work such as pointing.
KEYBOARD
☺ Easy to use and more
familiar to enter the text.
☺ Specialist keyboards are
available e.g. ergonomic,
gaming keyboards.
☺ People are used to using
keyboards to enter data, they
need very little training
☺ It is easy to make mistakes
when typing in data
☺ Not suitable for creating
diagrams
☺ If you can't touch type, it can
be time consuming to enter data
SCANNER
☺ Flatbed scanners are very
accurate and can produce
reasonably high quality
images.
☺ Images once digitised can
be enhanced with a graphics
application.
☺ Any image which is
digitised by the scanner can
then be included on electronic
documents.
☺ Images produced by the
scanner can take up a lot of
memory space.
☺ Images lose some quality in
the scanning and digitising
process.
☺ The quality of the final image
is dependent on the quality of the
original image.
OUTPUT DEVICES
OUTPUT DEVICES ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
HEADPHONE
☺ The sound can only be heard
by the user
☺ Probability - lightweight and
easy to carry around
☺ Can listen to music on the
move
☺ Can be uncomfortable
to wear for long periods of
time
☺ If music is played too
loudly or for long periods of
time there is a risk of
permanent heaving loss.
☺ Often not aware of
surrounding noise such as
cars in traffic or people
talking.
PLOTTER
☺ Drawings are of the same
quality as if an expert drew them
☺ Larger sizes of paper can be
used than most printers can
manage
☺ Plotters are faster than other
types of printing machines,
including the desktop printer.
☺ Plotters are slower than
printers because each line is
drawn separately
☺ They are often more
expensive than printers
☺ They do not produce
very high quality text
printouts
LCD / IFT MONITOR
☺ Run very quietly and produce
less heat.
☺ Beneficial energy-saving
measures consume 25 watts to 50
watts.
☺ Take up much less space.
☺ Expensive and Fragile
☺ Easy to broken or
damage
☺ People who stay in front
of monitors for long can
develop heart diseases and
cancer as results of EFL and
microwaves radiation.
PROCESS
PROCESS ADVANTAGES
CORE i7 ☺ Until recent times, core i7 family processors were
the best particularly for extreme 3D gaming,
intensive graphics tasks, multimedia production in
standard computer level. Now, this processor
becomes previous generation CPU, for the reason
that Intel introduced new and improved processors
called 2nd generation Intel® Core™ processors
family.
☺ Multitasking, for running multiple
programs at the same time
☺ Multithreading applications
☺ Extreme 3D gaming
☺ Creating professional movies and
editing graphical tasks
☺ More than enough for basic tasks such as
word processing, internet browsing and e-mail

A computer system refers to the hardware and software components that run a
computer or computers. Hardware is physical devices that make up a computer, categories of
the hardware is Input devices provide input to a computer, while output devices provide a way
for a computer to output data for communication with users or other computers. Good
examples of input/output devices are a floppy diskette drive, CD-R/RW drives, Modem, USB
thumb drives, and a hard drive. Meanwhile, software is set of instruction that hardware
executes to carry out a specific task for you, category of software is application software and
system software. Example of output is speaker, headphone, monitor, and plotter.
Alternatively referred to input and Output device is a hardware device that accepts
inputted information and also has the capability of outputting that information. Each computer
connected to the system can operate independently, but has the ability to communicate with
other external devices and computers.
