• Died in 1431• Her real name was Jeanne

d’ Arc• She was a French peasant

girl• Fled home in 1429 (age

17)• Became a heroine and a

Joan of Arc’s Accomplishments• She convinced the French

authorities of her mission to save France and was put in charge of her own army

• Popularly acknowledged as God’s emissary

• On May 8, 1429, Joan and her armies successfully won the English siege of Orléans
