CVIS Applications

Urban area applications– Cooperative traffic control management– Priority at intersections– Cooperative re-routing– Dynamic bus lanes

Interurban area applications– Traffic flow information– Traffic hazards warning– Wrong-way driver warning– Dynamic speed advice

Freight & Fleet applications– Access control– Dangerous goods– Delivery space / motorway resting area booking

To develop a combination of cooperative systems and tools using V2V and V2I communication to help:» drivers sustainably eliminate unnecessary fuel

consumption,» fleet managers to provide incentives to drivers to

save fuel, and most economical vehicle management

» road operators manage traffic in the most energy efficient way

eCoMove: Overall objective

14

Target is to reduce by 20% fuel consumption and therefore CO2 emission

ERTICO - ITS Europe

FREILOT: background

European city reality» Congestions» CO2 emissions» Pollution

European freight operator’s reality» Economical competitiveness, including:» Lower fuel consumption» Lower CO2 emissions» Lower level of pollution

15ERTICO - ITS Europe

Page 16: ITS til fremme af mobilitet i byer

FREILOT: Objectives

» Show that FREILOT services bring measurable benefits reducing up to 20% of fuel consumption on equipped trucks in urban areas

» Ensure FREILOT services after-project life

» Expand FREILOT services to more fleet operators, cities

16ERTICO - ITS Europe

Page 17: ITS til fremme af mobilitet i byer

FREILOT: Bilbao test-site

» Operation started, 10 FREILOT delivery spaces equipped in 4 different areas, deployment paper being prepared, high-level political support.

» High interest from the city of Bilbao and the fleet operators. 13 fleet operators already participating in the pilot. 42 new ones have to requested to join.

In-Time: Vision

» a pan-European approach to RTTI service provision

» Through an open, standardised service oriented infrastructure

» for dynamic urban traffic information» via B2B services» provided by Traffic Information Service

Providers (TISP)» delivered to the urban Traveller

Potential of ITS for road transport

» reduction of congestion by 5-15%› dynamic traffic & freight management, dynamic

navigation, electronic toll collection

» 5-15% less fatalities and 5-10% less injuries› electronic stability control (ESC), lane keeping

support, speed alert, emergency call (eCall)

» savings of 10-20% CO2 emissions› road charging, access management,

eco-driving support, multi-modality
