Introducing you to your iPads
What can I use my iPad for?
• Accessing the internet to check your emails, surf the
web and much more.
• iPads are touchscreen devices and manufactured by
Apple.
• Lots of different versions of ipads for example iPad Mini,
iPad Air all come with pre‐installed apps.
What is an app?
An application (app) is a type of shortcut and there are lots
of apps you can get. For example:
App Store where
you can have
access to lots of
different apps;
FaceTime allows
you to make video
and voice calls.
Podcasts allow
you to listen to live
and recorded
audio.
Please turn on your ipads
What do the buttons do?
Activity 1
• Please turn your ipads on and off;
• Turn the volume up and down using the
volume buttons, turn it to mute.
• Pick any app and open it up then press the
home key to get back to the homepage. Try
opening up different apps and going back to
the homepage.
Activity 2
• Tap into the notes app, select new at top
right‐hand corner and type a small message,
using letters numbers and symbols.
How do I connect to WIFI?
• Go to your settings icon; select the WIFI
option and enter password.
Are you connected?
Can you see this symbol in
the top right hand of your
screen?
If so you are connected to
WIFI.
Public WIFI
• If you choose to use WiFi in a public place, whether you
are using a smartphone, laptop or tablet. Remember, not
all public WiFi is encrypted, even if you are asked to enter
a password.
• Always think carefully before sharing private details (like
bank details or passwords) in a public place – can it wait
until you are on a secure connection at home?
• Don’t use Apps in public wifi areas.

Activity 3
• Open and close some of the apps on your iPad, for example, the calendar, reminders, safari etc.
• Navigate between the different pages of apps on the iPad to find different apps on the other pages.
Activity 4 - Deleting an App
Practice by tapping on an app until all the apps shake (youcan delete an app if you like). To get the apps back tonormal tap on the home button.
Further Support & Information
• Your nearest Apple store has free courses that you can
attend;
• Lots of free online learning; type into Google “Using my
iPad”;
• Try YouTube for online video’s.

Need to take meeting notes?
• Works with Drive, Gmail and Google Photos, so you can store
files, save email attachments and back-up photos directly to Drive.
• Save any attachment to your Drive to organize and share them in
