The pendulum is composed of three main parts: an anchor systemwith energy recovery and stabilization in the top, the steel ball, and the cable that supports it.
The cable holding the ball is a braided steel wire, the sphere ischrome inside contains lead (for standard pendulums).

Taipei 101 is one of the tallest buildings in the world, withinnovative technological developments and one of the safestbecause it has a simple but effective shock stabilizer, a massdamper designed to counteract the effects of hurricanes and earthquakes ground on the building
This is a simple mechanism that basically consists of a large block- concrete and steel ball hanging like a pendulum swings andcounteracts lateral movements common in this type of building, moving in the opposite direction to them.
The ball roll is called Taipei 101 Damper Baby, weighs 660 tons ...priority activity is tolerable swing by typhoons and earthquakes thatroutinely assault the skyscrapers being built in Taiwan, one of theareas with more shakin

The proposed seismic design was used in La Torre Mayor offersan innovative concept of seismic energy absorption for tall buildings. The building is equipped with energy dissipatingdevices in a highly efficient system of dampers to reduce seismic forces in the structure and its subsequent movements. In theory, the building can withstand an earthquake of 8.5 magnitude on theRichter scale, a force that could tear down any building the size ofTorre Mayor.
Torre Mayor is the first building in Latin America since its designhave huge seismic shock. The structural safety of Torre Mayor has been calculated to exceed the requirements of Building Regulations of the City of Mexico andCalifornia, which are the strictest in the world and providemaximum safety and comfort to its occupants. The concrete and steel structure features 98 ORES SEISMIC DAMPER that minimize their movement during an earthquake, absorbing and dissipating a significant portion of the energy absorbing tower.
This tower is one of the world's toughest skyscrapers, and the most global seismic tolerance, having a maximum tolerance of 9.5 on the Richter scale, besides being one of the three largest structures to be in an area high seismic risk. He has endured two earthquakes, one in 2003 of 7.6 degrees on the Richter scale, was not damaged in its structure, and April 2007 of 6.3 degrees on the Richter scale. Also worth noting that at the time of the earthquake the occupants noticed that something was wrong by a conglomeration of people in the streets surrounding and bustle of people running to and fro in the building did not feel any movement
