VHF MARINE TRANSCEIVER

In marine environments there are many sources of noise that can affect the quality of your communications, such as engine noise, breaking surf and more. The IC-M36 automatically adjusts the outgoing voice and the incoming audio to compensate for the ambient noise level: whether you're in a loud environment or in a quiet area, the IC-M36 ensures your radio conversation is sent and received as clearly as possible.

Continuing the legacy of the IC-M34, the IC-M36 floats back up to the surface if dropped overboard, even if the optional speaker microphone, HM-165, is attached.

And yes, it floats too!

OPTIONS Some options may not be available in some countries. Please ask your dealer for details.

LOUD buttonWhen you need an instant “boost” in thevolume, a simple push of the “LOUD” but-ton gives you full volume immediately. Inaddition, holding the “LOUD” button mutesthe audio output.

Noise cancelling microphoneThe sub-microphone on the rear panel invertsphase and cancels out ambient noise from themain microphone. As a result, the IC-M36 re-duces the affect of background noise (particu-larly trebly noise) from the transmitted signal andmakes it easier to catch voice communication.

Automatic volume adjustment When in an engine room or high noise en-vironment, the sub-microphone detects theambient noise and the IC-M36 automati-cally increases the volume output to suit thesurrounding environment.

Low power consumptionAlthough the IC-M36 delivers a high 6W RFoutput and 700mW audio output, its currentsaving circuit offers a practical 8 hours* ofoperating time with the supplied 980mAhLithium-Ion battery pack. * Typical operation with Tx (Hi): Rx: standby=5:5:90

Large buttons and slim dimensionsThanks to the large, easy-to-operate but-tons, the IC-M36 provides intuitive opera-tion. A pinched-waist slender body makes iteasy to hold and carry the radio, and is sur-prisingly compact for a floating radio.

Other features• Waterproof construction equivalent to IPX7

(1m depth for 30 minutes)• Dual/Tri-watch functions• Weather channel with weather alert• 4-step battery life indicator • Auto scan function• Instant access to Ch 16 or Ch 9

BP-252BP-251

Please note : The noise cancellation can produce little or no effect in some conditions depending on type of noise, or the position and distance between the noise source and the microphone, etc. The noise cancellation does not work when an optional external speaker-microphone is connected.

VOR navigation* The IC-A24/E has VOR navigation func-

tions. The DVOR mode shows the radial to

or from a VOR station and the CDI mode

shows the course deviation to/from a VOR

station. You can also input your intended ra-

dial to/from the VOR station and show the

course deviation on the display. In the USA

version, the duplex operation allows you to call a COM channel, while

you are using VOR navigation. (* IC-A24/E only)

External DC power jackAn external DC power jack allows for operation

with the wall charger, BC-167 or the cigarette

lighter cable, CP-20. When the battery pack is in-

stalled, simultaneous charging during operation is

also possible. In addition, an optional battery case,

BP-208N, is available.

Water resistant constructionThe water resistant construction provides reliable

operation in wet conditions.* Equivalent to IPX4 of the corresponding international

standard IEC 60529 (2001).

And more... • 200 memory channels (20 Ch × 10 banks) with

6 character names

• Dedicated 121.5MHz emergency key

• Side tone function allows you to hear your

own voice via an external aviation headset.

• 8.33kHz channel spacing (Depending on version)

• NOAA weather channels (IC-A24/A6 only)

• Tag scanning and memory bank scanning

• ANL (Auto Noise Limiter) for noise reduction

• Low battery alert

The pilot’s favorite handheld is here!Easy to use while fl yingSimple one-handed operation is the most

essential feature of the IC-A24/A6 series.

The well labeled, large keypad provides user

friendly operation. The large display shows

both letters and numbers and is easy to see,

making for fast frequency recognition. The

display is backlit, and so is the keypad. The

light stays on until you turn it off – a very

handy feature for fl ying at night.

“Flip-fl op” channel recallThe IC-A24/A6 series stores the last 10 chan-

nels used. You can easily recall those chan-

nels by pushing the “flip-flop” recall

buttons on the front panel. It is con-

venient for switching between several chan-

nels, such as NAV and COM channels.

Innovative features suchas 99 memory channels, high C/N ratio, direct channel entering, data com-munication capabilities and more, offer easy operation for anyone. All thesefeatures come in a compact, rugged package that can be conveniently usedin a base station or in a vehicle, as you prefer.

Reliablestraight forward

HF communications

With the speaker facing the operator, audiosounds can be clearly heard without im-pediment during operation. It is no longernecessary to manually increase the volumeto try and capture audio sounds.

When the optional CR-338 HIGH STABILITY

CRYSTAL UNIT is installed, it allows up to±0.5 ppm of extremely high stable operation.

Durable, powerful construction

Flexible filter selection

High frequency stability

Front mounted loud speaker

An optional IF filter can be installed into thetransceiver, providing 5 passband widthsselectable in SSB, CW or RTTY modes.

VFO mode operation*

For continuous frequency operation, VFOmode operation* capability is available. It isconvenient when searching for signals, around the programmed frequencies, suchas short wave broadcasts, etc.*depending on version

Superior basic performance

A 4-element system is employed for the 1streceive mixer, providing superior receiveIMD, especially from in-band, nearby inter-fering signals. A well-designed double-con-version system to help minimize image andspurious responses for better signal fidelity,is also built-in. A newly designed PLL circuithas been adopted to improve C/N ratiocharacteristics. The combination of the 4-element system mixer and new PLL circuitallows superior basic performance.

An affordable 99 duplex memory channelsare available for storing individual transmitand receive frequencies, operating mode, filter setting, as well as 8-character channelnames. You can enter channel assign-ments easily from the 10-key pad. In addi-tion, an extra 1 call memory is available forstoring the most often used, or most impor-tant frequency. An independent, one-touchrecall switch is available.

The IC-78 is equipped with a large easy-to-read LCD. A minimum number of switchesand controls allow for superior feature se-lectability. Keys access functions directly–there’s no secondary function key. You canenter your operating frequency*, or mem-ory channel number directly from the 10-key pad.*depending on version

Simple operation

2-mode band scopeThe band scope function lets you watchconditions around the band. In Centermode the band scope is centered on the re-ceiving frequency. In Fixed mode the bandscope sweeps a fixed range.

2 ×× DSPThat’s two times the DSP in the IC-7000 that will leave many basestation rigs in the noise! While it is too early to list all the great fea-tures, here are a few to keep you talking!

Improved AGC loop performanceWith Multiple AGC loops, you will never experience AGC pumpingfrom a signal filtered out by the DSP! The digital IF filter and manualnotch filter are included in the AGC loop, so you will never encounterAGC blocking. As with the 756PROIII and IC-7800, the AGC time con-stants are adjustable for slow, middle, fast for each operating mode.

Digital IF filtersAll the filters you want at your fingertips! You will never have to pur-chase “Optional” filters as the IC-7000 has 41 different filter widths. You just dial in the width you want and select whether you want asharp or soft filter shape for SSB and CW modes. Then to pull-inthe the weak ones, a quick turn of the the concentric twin PBTknobs, allow you to either narrow the IFpassband, or shift the entire passband toeliminate the QRM.

2 ×× MNF (Manual Notch Filter)Pull out the weak signals in crowded band conditions with Icom’sNEW two-point MNF manual notch filter. Apply 70 dB of rejection totwo signals at once! Notch width is ad-justable – wide, medium, and narrow – andan auto-tuning notch filter is available, too.

This is a simple and basic setting for those

who use the radio mainly for individual

and group call. Use the 16-position rotary

channel knob to select the appropriate

individual or group call. This setting also

can be used with analog 2-tone or 5-tone

signalling.

When using the IC-F3103D series in IDAS

multi-site conventional mode, the IC-

F3103D can communicate with other IDAS

radio users working with other repeater

sites and/or virtual radio/PC dispatch stations

on the IDAS network.

When used with the optional GPS speaker-

microphone, HM-171GP, GPS position

data can be sent to other advanced IDAS

radios (PC and software required) and/or

virtual radio/PC dispatch stations.

All advantages shown represent possible system confi gurations. Ask your Icom dealer to confi gure an IDAS system that works best for you.

*Note: Private IP Network or VPN Tunnels through the Internet with static endpoints.

The IC-F3103D series can receive both

analog and digital mode signals on a

single channel and automatically selects

the received mode to reply to the received

call, while the talk back timer remains. It’s a

smart way to grow into digital radio - at your

own pace, as your budget and comfort allow.

Mix the basic IC-F3103D series with the

advanced IC-F3163 series (with UT-126H)

for efficient group managed systems.

Commands like radio stun, kill and revive

as well as the caller ID of the IC-F3103D

displayed on the administrator’s radio provide

efficient communication within the group.

The IC-F3103D series can be used in an

IDAS single-site trunking system.

The IDAS trunking system is a distributed system

(similar to the analog LTR™ trunking) with no

control channel, so more voice traffic channels

are available for increased system capacity.

Conventional wide area IP network isavailable later

The IC-FR5000 series can receive both analog and digital mode signals on a single channel. You can partially introduce IDAS digital radios, while still maintaining the existing analog radios in the system.

The IDAS system utilizes 6.25kHz narrow channel spacing, which within a 12.5kHz channel, you can create two offset channels. (i.e. doubling the channel efficiency and capacity)

Being digital, integration and convergence with IP technology as well as multiple data applications will be possible to enhance the basic system.

Enjoy noise free audio over a greater comparable area than analog FM. The IDAS radio uses the AMBE+2™ codec the latest evolution in vocoding technology.

The optional UC-FR5000 offers single site digital trunking capability for effective channel management. Its distributed system (similar to the analog LTR™ trunking) does not require a dedicated control channel. Up to 30 channels (RF units) per site can be set up.

The above is a system image only. Actual release timing and system capabilities are still to be decided.

The IC-FR5000 series is ready for IDAS digital and IDAS trunking.

Smallest and lightest in the worldAs a 5W VHF marine transceiver, the IC-M24

has the smallest and lightest body in the world.*

* As of December, 2010, researched by Icom.

Energy-saving 3.7V circuitryThe IC-M24 is powered by the 3.7V Lithium-Ion

battery pack, BP-266, to reduce the volume and

weight of the radio. A newly developed PA circuit

provides 5W (approx.) RF output and powerful

600mW (typ.) audio even at this low voltage,

while saving battery consumption for 10 hours of

operating time.*

* Typical operation with Tx (Hi): Rx: standby=5:5:90.

US patent pending.
