IPv6Why it is a better protocol than IPv4?
IPv6 Designed for the Internet of todayIPv4 was designed for a private networks in the late 70s
128 bit Addresses!
This a huge number!
No chance to exhaust it
Enough to address each atom of Earth and do 4 more Earth Fred Bovy
Plug and Play
No more configuration on the end nodes.
IPv6 is plug-and-play
Configuration is performed on routers and servers
SaferInternet today is fully opened to hackers who are the Internet Owners. They can get through any firewall and do whatever they want!
If the Network Designers follow the IETF recommendations most end nodes SHOULD run IPSec
IPSec was initially designed for IPv6
No More NAT needed!
Peer-to-Peer which was a key driver for the migration to TCP/IP in the 80s was killed by NAT.
It is not more insecure without NAT if you implement Statefull Firewall at the Edge of your Network and only allow IPSec traffic to get in!
Anyway you will also need to implement Host based firewalls on each system talking to the Internet

IPv6 header is Simpler and more PowerfullSome fields have been removed from the basic header and/or replaced by an Extension header
IPv6 is Simpler & Powerfull
No more need for an IPv6 header Checksum as link are more and more reliable and datalink provides a CRC Checking.
The Option fields have been replaced by a daisy chain of Extension headers.
It gives flexibility as new application can create new Extensions Headers
IPv6 MobilityYou login in the morning from home and while you are roaming, you never have to reconnect your applications. !
Remote Application see you at home all the time
Installed as the default protocol on most platforms Linux, Windows and MAC OS for the workstations, HP and other for the printers and so on…
