Teacher talk v. Student talk10:39Teacher focused the class and asked, “Which was the hardest question toanswer? A few questions were discussed by Teacher and the class. Shereferred one question to the class, “She is saying the question is confusingWhat is happening in the text? It does seem like a lot is missing. “

Teacher: To what areas is Islam spreading? To Where?

Teacher then discussed the geographical advantages the Middle East in thedispersal of Islam..10:45Teacher referenced a wall map of the Middle East to illustrate her points. Studentswere not attentive to this presentation.

Between 10:39 and 10:47, Mr. Preston tallied theamount of ‘teacher-talk’ versus the amount of ‘studenttalk’ during the facilitated discussion. We discussedthat 84% of the time featured the teacher talking andwhat was discussed during this time period.
