A history of people focus

HuMINE Resources™ is a corporation founded on the principles of valuing people and partnerships. It is driven by the motivation to create long lasting relationships that deliver purpose and positive outcomes for our clients and team members.

The red thread that runs through HuMINE, as well as in all our partners and founders previous roles and functions, has been that of an understanding of the impact of having the right person in place for a specific role. This then naturally translate into an understanding of the detrimental consequences of having people perform roles that they either don’t have the innate abilities for, alternatively lack competence in.

HuMINE, its personnel and founders has for 25+ aggregated data, know-how and expertise across the globe, from South- North America, Europe and the Middle East through to AustralAsia within all facets of open-pit mining, equipment maintenance, beneficiation plant maintenance and Mining HSE.

Cost effective mining requires efficient operations, the only way to achieve this is to have personnel with suitable innate abilities in place for each role, sufficient competence levels and a corporate culture that yields accountable productivity.

The Mining industry of today is more than capable of investing in state-of-the-art equipment and in the creation of processes.

The critical competence building component that must be apart of any mining plan usually comes up short, as the operations are generally focused on the here-and-now rather than on the end result, therefore making competence management difficult and inevitably leads to great production inefficiencies, as well as health and safety liabilities.

The HuMINE Index of Competence is based on over 20 year’s of operational experience and data col-lected from mines, quarries, construction & civil projects around the world.

The HuMINE Index, which works on a 1-100 scale, demonstrates a global competence average of only 40% within open-pit production mining.

This means that by focusing on the HUMAN side of mining, gains can be achieved quickly through an improved and accountable manner of working with people, managing production processes and the maintenance thereof. Just as critical as the creation of competence is the managing and maintaining of the integrity of the competence that has been created, as with everything, if left without care, the quality will deteriorate.

The HuMINE index allows for region specific equipment requirements and people competence potentials to be defined and leveraged in order to refine CapEx and training investments requirements, rather than purchasing large quantities of equipment and “blindly” hiring personnel using conventional methods, which lack accountability for operational performance.

The on-going refinement of the HuMINE Index is achieved by continuously matching production mining metrics, equipment and beneficiation plant maintenance metrics with captured information concerning each employee’s Competencies, Innate abilities (potential), Social science, Mental attitudes, Attention and Stress impacts as well as the impact of any given Environmental on work performance at all the sites we have the privilege to work on.

The result of using the HuMINE Index at mining sites is our ability to produce a “HuMINE-heat map of competence”, which allows HuMINE to create a “chain-like-picture” of the mining operation, each link representing a person allowing for true individual specific performance monitoring, through to perfor-mance monitoring of an entire workforce.

All of the above-mentioned insights to operational performance and opportunity identification is weighed against a foundation of best-case approaches within all facets of open-pit mining, applicable throughout all levels of a personnel base.

Client data gained during HuMINE engagements is Strictly Confidential and only used internally at HuMINE to further refine our tools and methodologies.

The HuMINE diagnostic phase is performed to identify opportunities for impro-vements within production mining, equipment & plant maintenance, operational costs and safety, achievable through a scientific and accountable manner of working with people, processes and equipment as well as the synchronisation thereof.

HuMINE Institute™

The HuMINE Institute™ is an Operating Learning Centre focused on the skills required to support the mining and civil industries, established in developing countries or regions where mining skills are not traditionally a part of the society. Mining operations supported by HuMINE Resources ™ are focused towards the education of a local and/or national workforce.

The goal is to effectively provide a “low-cost mining resources educational facility”, producing a managed pool of highly skilled national workers to be used by specific mining clients as well as serve a dual purpose of creating competence for other applications and projects. The HuMINE Institute would have a continued responsibility for the competence pool it creates by providing Continued career monitoring, mentoring and training of each Employee utilising our proprietary HuCOMPETENCE™ tool.
