HP takes the lead in utilizing USB 3.0 specification of its laptops
One of the giant PC manufacturers, HP has said it will bring SuperSpeed USB to a
majority of its high-performance and business laptops later this year.
HP Envy 15 is now equipped with USB 3.0 ports
Improvements of USB 3.0
According to the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF), an organization defining USB
standards, USB 3.0 increases bandwidth and transfers data close to 10 times faster
than USB 2.0, The USB 3.0 interface can offer a transfer rate of 5G bps (bits per
second) compared to 480M bps per second for USB 2.0. For example, 1G byte of
data can be transferred to a host device in 3.3 seconds with USB 3.0, compared to 33
seconds with USB 2.0.
Additionally, USB 3.0 improves performances in power and connections as well.
When running at its supper speed, the USB 3.0 supplies automatically for up to
higher 80% power consumption, on the other hand, USB 3.0 draws power from
peripherals devices as well as hosts thanks to the enhanced version of USB-B
connector, which also called Powered-B. Another feature of USB 3.0 specification
newly released is its cross-connection application, allowing crossing communication
between hardware
Meanwhile, it should be mentioned that its high-quality of backwards-compatible,
which allow USB 3.0 to interface with USB 2.0 hardware with an extension cord.
Inarguably, USB 3.0 is not just a hot topic but a dramatically hot product with such
outstanding improvements of performance in speed, power and cross connection
and as well as universal compatibility.
HP’s entry into USB 3.0
HP spokeswoman Sheila Watson said that the company is shipping certain Envy 15
configurations with the USB 3.0 ports. "HP Direct (our online store) does now sell the
Envy 15 with the USB 3.0 along with the new ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5830 Graphics
(DX11)," she said in response to an e-mail query Tuesday, referring to the mobile
Radeon graphics chip from Advanced Micro Devices' ATI unit.
Other drives
Reputable storage companies aren't far behind in releasing USB 3.0 storage devices.
Samsung announced a Samsung Story Station family of USB 3.0 external hard drives,
which are available in capacities ranging from 1TB to 2TB. Western Digital offers the
My Book external hard drives, priced at $199.99 for 1TB and $279.99 for 2GB
capacity.
What influence USB 3.0 on flash data recovery industry
It can be said with certainty that the influence of USB 3.0 on flash data recovery
industry is few, for USB 3.0 specification doesn't change its operating principle.
