Fitbit Trackers App, available with Fitbit Surge, can calculate the distance travelled by you by keeping a watch on the number of walking steps or strides you take. Generally, the length of the step or stride is supplied into the app based on your height and gender. However, you can adjust them.

Calculating Your Stride Length
• Visit a track or place where you are sure of the distance. • Count the number of steps you walk across that distance,
making sure you travel at least 20 steps.• Know your stride length by dividing the total distance with the
number of steps taken.
Similarly, you can calculate the length of your running stride.
Changing the Default Stride Length on Your Fitbit Account
• Log into your “fitbit.com” dashboard and click the “gear” icon in the top right.• Click “Settings”.• Update the “Stride Length and Running Stride Length” fields. If these
are blank, it means your account considers default values based on your height and gender. However, the field will be having zeroes.• Don't forget to click “Save”. The changes become effective when you
next time sync your app or open your Fitbit account.

Make sure your tracker is charged since updating firmware can take several minutes and is demanding on the battery. Because your tracker resets its data at midnight, update your firmware before or after midnight but not during.
