You are able to send a printed documents or images over a telephone
line in minutes or even seconds depending where you are sending the
fax.

3. The first fax machine was invented by Alexander Bain in
1843.Documents were transmitted over telegraph lines
1862, Giovanni Caselli built the pan telegraph, which was based on
Bains invention but also included a synchronizing apparatus.
1902, Arthur Korn, invented telephotography, a means for manually
breaking down and transmitting still photographs by means of
electrical wires.

4. In France, Edouard Beeline constructed the Belinograph. His
invention involved placing an image on a cylinder and scanning it
with a powerful light beam that had a photoelectric cell, which
could convert light, or the absence of light, into transmittable
electrical impulses.
