Why should we include Audio-Visual Resources in our classes?

1. Audio-visual resources can greatly enrich the everyday classroom.

Real English situation. Real songs, documentaries, films, etc. Real examples.

2. Audio-visual resources can enhance teaching methods and improve student comprehension.

3. Audio-visual resources should be tailored for a particular audience depending on the level (of the students).

4. Audio-visual resources can be an important tool focussing on the students’ interests.

Non motivating contents.

Abuse of these resources.

Not focus on the aim.

What to consider …VISUAL AND AUDIO RESOURCES (FILMS, VIDEOS …)• Quality: It should sounds properly It should have good image definition It should be easy to access

• Content: Accurate to the students’ ageConnected with the content or topic of the lesson (purpose) Supported with other activities (filling gaps, answering questions …)

Ideas for activitiesWe can use the interactive whiteboard:- As a tool for the whole session - For a specific video activityIn this case it has been particularly difficult to find videos on the internet because i´ts difficult to find videos for 11-12 year old L2 learners.

• Idea ONE is to watch a video from the internet:

• 1st I´m going to use the IWB to give them instructions of the activity as a traditional blackboard

• 2nd I´m going to use the IWB to watch a video from the internet

• 3rd With this video you can download the transcription and a word search.

• 4th And after the word search and after watching the video again, they have a list of food words which ss can group in the food pyramid.

How can we make audio files in class. 1)Use a microphone connected with a laptop.2)Record audio English activities with windows mediaplayer.3)Play them in the class so children could listen what they have recorded, songs,rhymes,chants.

We can use audio edition software programs:1. Audacity
