Market Overview• Li-ion batteries are rechargeable batteries used in laptops.
• Currently, all laptop models runs on Li-ion batteries.
• The basic principle of li-ion batteries is that power is generated when ions move from the negatively charged electrode (anode), in the battery, to the positively charged electrode (cathode) in the battery.
• On the other hand, during charging, electricity from the adapter forces the ions to return to the anode.
• Once the adapter is removed, this cycle starts again. With time, the charge holding capacity of a Li-ion battery deteriorates because ions get trapped in anode, thereby releasing lesser amount of energy.
