WordPress is like a V8 Engine! This is because of all of the available Plugins!!! In my last talk about WP, we briefly touched on Plugins, but today we will dive a little deeper.

There are 27,000+ plugins with over 527million downloads. So, more than likely, if you can imagine it, there is a plugin for WordPress Plugin for it.Plugins allow you to add functionality to your WordPress website. They basically add functionality to your existing site. Some might add a lot of functionality; some might add just a little extra functionality.

So how do you go and find these so called “plugins” and install them? Search the plugin directory here: http://wordpress.org/plugins/ or within the Plugins area within your WordPress website

Questions to ask before installing and activating a plugin on your WordPress Site:* Does the plugin fit all my needs?* Will the plugin work with my installation of WP?* How many people have downloaded it?* What is the support community saying about the plugin?* When was the last time the author updated the plugin?

So we are going to talk about two ways to make your WordPress installation have some more horsepower! Anyone and everyone can run a WordPress website. It is simple and easy to setup. Most hosting providers give you a one-click install.

Membership control: This plugin would be great for websites that have member only data or sell subscriptions to their content. There are plenty of different membership control plugins out there. Before installing, make sure the plugin fits all your needs (see previous slide).

eCommerce Plugin: Does your business or hobby make some useful items and you want to sell those online? Well WordPress has some great eCommerce plugins. Again, you need to make sure the plugin you choose fits all your needs.

Take your time and research before you install the Plugins; you will have a better success rate.
