What is the difference between the Horror genre and a horror film? The meaning of the word horror is to

have an intense feeling of fear, shock, or disgust.

Horror Films on the other hand, are unsettling films designed to frighten and panic, cause dread and alarm, and to invoke our hidden worst fears, often in a terrifying, shocking finale, while captivating and entertaining us at the same time in a cathartic experience.

How do horror films affect an audience? Horror films are specifically know to

affect their target audience by getting them to feel uneasy. The audience also begin to feel uneasy as the character progresses through certain moments in the film, unaware of when they are about to be jumpscared or frightened by a certain piece of imagery/ scenery.
