DESCRIPTION

This presentation shows the first large coverage facades solar cadaster based on LiDAR data and city model. For the whole City of Vienna with more than 160.000 buildings the solar potential and the sun duration for all facades and roofs have been calculated. Shadows of trees and nearby houses identified from the LiDAR data are clearly visible. A new service for the renewable energy market and a perfect thematic layer for city models.

Processing: Solar Insolation Calculation

Input - Point Cloud with synthetic points for building facades with attributes slope, aspect - Digital raster surface model from LiDAR data

Insolation calculation - Definition of output data sets: + direct insolation + diffuse insolation + total insolation + sun duration … - Geographic coordinates of the area of interest - Time resolution = interval for insolation simulation (e.g. every 30 min) - Time period (day, month, year) - Method for aggregation of insolation and sun duration values - Meteorological correction

Output - Point cloud with insolation / sun duration and conversion to CityGML textures
