Modernizing your System z Application Development with the IBM Rational An IBM Proof of Technology You’re Invited Date: November 19 th Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Location: London Southbank Introduction This Proof of Technology (PoT) session provides attendees with basic skills and hands-on exposure to the major features of the IBM® Rational® Integrated Solution for System z® Development, providing an integrated development solution, consisting of the Rational Developer for System z (version 9.1.1), Collaborative Lifecycle Management (version 4.0.x) and Rational Asset Analyzer (version 6.0.x) tools. These integrated tools provide a modern development platform that enables high individual and team productivity and extends the benefits of Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) to the mainframe developer and allow developers to perform reliable analysis when making a change. The workshop will allow users to use the tools and their features in a fictitious scenario, designed to portray a ‘day in the life’ of a development team. It consists of a common workbench and an integrated set of tools that support end-to- end, model-based development, run-time testing, and rapid deployment of simple and complex applications. The labs may also use z/OS® running in a laptop using Rational Developer & Test for System z. Objective This PoT, using the Rational Integrated Solution for System z Development will: Show application teams how they can quickly discover, understand and modernize their application portfolio in a managed fashion using a modern IDE and a standardized process. Show production teams how they can easily reuse, extend and automate their existing build and deployment solutions for enterprise applications Enable IT executives to view, in real-time, project health metrics across the enterprise. Audience This PoT is targeted for Architects, Technical Specialist or Developers. However, it is not limited to technical folks. Some MVS™ or z/OS experience or understanding is required. Non-technical attendees with an understanding of application lifecycle management are welcome..
