My Target Audience

My target audience for my music magazine PopStar, would females aged from 12-17, from a working class background.They would be in their teenage years so would sterotypically be smiley, cheesy and have a positive outlook on life. They would enjoy a range of activites such as sporting, music and fashion, which is also displayed from conducting a interview/portfolio of a pop magazine reader, who I would expect to purchase my magazine.

To gain more understanding into my target audience for my magazine, I interviewed someone

that appealed and fitted into the brief of my specific readers.

I asked questions into what interests and likes she had which could give more insight into topics that

are already featured in existing magazines, and would benefit and appeal more if I included them

into my magazine.

This interview, also helped me to understand the things she did not like and therefor would not want to include. For example, Ke$ha. However these are just specific tastes and does not apply to mu target audience as a whole.

What other media do they consume?

After carrying out some extra research I was able to find out other methods of ways my target audience consume media. For example, with my readers of my magazine being in the younger age range they are most likely to interact via social media. Most popular sites are Twitter and Facebook, where you are able to gain recent information more quickly compared to a magazine’s content. Within these social sites there are also adverts and images which is also another way they consume media without physically realizing on products that are trying to be advertised. TV is also a popular way they might consume media, with television adverts on conveying a same sort of image and representation of Idelogies such as the ‘teenage fashion look’.Music also plays a way media is consumed through listening online or on devices.
