Stimler, Neal. “enlightenment.” Mind 42. February 2, 2015

Page 3: enlightenment: Mind Map of a Scholarly Process and Open Access Publication Concept

The “enlightenment” project began in 2014 at the Beautiful Data summer institute lead by the metalab at Harvard and supported by the Getty Foundation.

It is both a mind map of Neal Stimler’s scholarly process and a concept for an crowdsourced publication project.

The entire process-project is centered on openness. It uses collaborative methods of digital scholarship and draws upon museum collections without copyright or permissions restrictions. The publication outputs will be also open access.

The tool used to create the mind map is called Mind42. It is a free and web browser based tool for collaboration that includes multimedia, links and offers a variety of export formats. Visit www.mind42.com.

Anyone can join this process by creating an account and adding a comment or node. Please identify your contribution in the map.

The project welcomes collaborators and funders to support its further development.
