To crush walnuts, it can also smash ripe fruits for making jams, jellies or

butters

Cleared the table and arranged the items in order to get comfortable

The drawing tools that I needed is sketch book, H pencil, HB pencil, B pencil,

2B pencil, 6B pencil, 7B pencil, 8B pencil, eraser and tissue paper

Using grade 2B pencil for my outline sketching

Use grade 8B pencil to shade the darker area to have a contrast between the

darker and brighter sides of the utensil

Use grade H pencil to shade the lighter area of the potato masher

Use the tissue paper to blend the shading of sketching

Difficult to produce the sketches because that sketch the head of the potato

masher is quite hard due to its rounded zig-zag shape

Improve my shading on the circular shape of potato masher

The mistakes that I consequently do is the lines I was supposed to shade the

dark area with grade 8B pencil but I mistakenly shaded in a light area

I erase the mistakes that I made and re-sketch back

Use the tissue paper to blend back with the surrounding that I erase that

I felt very excited and cheerful after I completed my sketching of kitchen

is very useful in my respective course because course of architecture is need to

produce a lot of drawing. So, sketching can help me to express my ideas. I can

sketch as much as I want. Then, I will be able to compare the sketching that I have

produced and choose which ones are better. Sketching also help me to evolve a

stronger understanding on my drawing and develop my drawing skills. However, my

process essay is about the kitchen utensil, the utensil that I choose, useful of this

utensil and the reason that why I select this utensil.

First of all, the kitchen utensil that I have selected is potato masher. I first noticed

that this utensil is have the basic design made from a strand of circular and irregular

metal. Commercial mashers are often of larger design such as 32 inches in base

width. It has a stunning bright yellow fluorescent colour that caught my eye. Next,

when I try to feel the surface of the metal, I felt that the surface of the metal limning

have a lower temperature than the surrounding. In addition, the handle is easily

gripped and doesn’t slipped through my hand. On the other hand, this kitchen utensil

is a food preparation utensil that have used in our everyday life. For instance, to

crush soft food such as mashed potatoes, apple sauce and refried beans. Therefore,

the reason that I choose this utensil is because the potato masher can be very useful

in a lot of aspect. One of the uses of the potato masher is to crush walnuts, it can

smash walnuts in short time of period. Besides that, it can also smash ripe fruits for

making jams, jellies or butters. Moreover, potato masher can be used to mash hard

cooked eggs, avocados for guacamole and also butter that is still hard to use for

baking cookies.

Furthermore, I cleared my table and arranged my items in order to get comfortable

at my desk and start my sketching. The drawing tools that I needed when I was in

the process of sketching is sketch book, H pencil, HB pencil, B pencil, 2B pencil, 6B

pencil, 7B pencil, 8B pencil, eraser and tissue paper. As I start sketching, I was using

grade 2B pencil for my outline sketching because I was afraid of making mistakes,

using grade 2B pencil will be easier for me to erase my mistakes. As I observe the

utensil, I realised that the utensil has the darker area and the lighter area due to the

placing of table lamp which is beside the potato masher. I started to use grade 8B

pencil to shade the darker area to have a contrast between the darker and brighter

sides of the utensil. After that, I began to use grade H pencil to shade the lighter area

of the potato masher. Then, I use the tissue paper to blend the shading of my

sketching.

It was quite difficult for me to produce the sketches because I found that sketch the

head of the potato masher is quite hard due to its rounded zig-zag shape. After the

first step of sketching, I improve my shading on the circular shape of potato masher.

The mistakes that I consequently do is the lines I was supposed to shade the dark

area with grade 8B pencil but I mistakenly shaded in a light area. So, I erase the

mistakes that I made and re-sketch back. After that, I use the tissue paper to blend

back with the surrounding that I erase that.

focus on my contrast, shading and blending. I felt very excited and cheerful after I

completed my sketching of kitchen utensil. I would like to do this again because I can

learn a lot of value of sketching through this assignment. As an example, sketching

is a good way to discover the new ideas.
