Energy play an important role in the economic development of a country.

In Pakistan supply of energy is 46.8 million tons & per capita availability is 0.28 million tons per year while consumption per year is 48.3 million tons.

The major types of energy are

1-Heat energy 2-Solar energy 3-Chemical energy 4-Electrical energy

1.WAPDA: It generates 11399 MW energy, in which 57% is hydel & 43% of thermal energy includes.

2.IPP: It only generates 6374 MW energy.

3.Nuclear Power Plants: There are two nuclear power plants in Pakistan which generate 462 MW energy.

4.KESC: It generates 1955 MW energy.

1.The demand for power is rising due to fast growth of large & small scale Industries and increased supply of electricity in villages.

2.At present the power demand in Pakistan is growing at about 8.7% a year.

3.22600 MW electricity is required while available capacity is 20190 MW.

4.Increase in oil prices also create shortage.
