1. Introduction
This is my ENBE Project 2, The Future City Representation. This final project is divided into two parts, which is individual (part A) and group (part B) task. For individual task, we need to submit a video about our city and an A4 booklet report meanwhile for the group work, we need to produce a model of the selected city and one A1 presentation board. As the present city is no longer livable, we have to pretend us as a mayor to propose a new layout of the new city, “X-city” which is between 25-40 km2, population between150,000 -500,000 and the people of the “X-city” are Malaysian. The submission is a video presentation and A4 booklet report.
Through this project, we are exposed to the elements of the natural and built environment in their basic unit, form and function, symbiotic relationship of the natural and built environment and analyze the impact between natural and built environment.

2.1 The City Definition
City is a large and densely populated urban area which may include several independent administrative districts. City is also an incorporated administrative district established by state charter.
2.2 What is the brief history
Cities exist for many reasons. Cities serve as centers of storage, trade, and manufacture. Cities also grew up around marketplaces, where goods from distant places could be exchanged for local products. Throughout history, cities have been founded at the intersections of transportation routes, or at points where goods must shift from one mode of transportation to another, at river and ocean ports. Cities often provide protection in a precarious world with the protection of cities wall. Cities are also serve as centers of government. Lastly, cities, with their concentration of talent, mixture of peoples, and economic surplus, have provided a fertile ground for the evolution of human culture: the arts, scientific research, and technical innovation.
2.3 What makes a city
A city is made up of large population, a long history, government area, educational area, commercial area, residential area, religion and culture, services, support by law, equipped with different facilities, transportation and ports.
2.4 What makes a good city
A good city is a city with large population, good educational system, civilized and advance, have spaces for cultural activities and communication, low level of noise. Other than that, a good city has to increase in urban density where everyone is moving to the city, comfort and lastly flexibility where the city can be upgraded, changeable and adaptable.
2.5 What is the future city
Future city is basically a smart city, have to increase in urban density, equipped with new and old buildings with new and old technologies, comfort and sustainable .

Ancient Cities
MOHENJO – DARO BABYLON CITY
3.2 History of Babylon and Mohenjo-Daro
BABYLON Babylon was founded in 1894 BC. In classical times the city walls of Babylon were spoken of with admiration and astonishment, while the "Hanging Gardens" were accounted one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The Hanging Gardens were said to have been built to please King Nebuchadnezzar's wife, Amyitis.
MOHENJO – DARO Mohenjo- Daro was built with a grid pattern of wide and straight streets, and thick wall surrounding the city. Mohenjo-Daro was built around 2600 BCE, and it was one of the largest settlements of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization and this urban plan included the world’s first urban sanitation systems. Mohenjo -Daro was built with a grid pattern of wide and straight streets, and thick wall
surrounding the city. Mohenjo-daro was abandoned in the 19th century BCE, and was not rediscovered until 1922. 3.3 What ancient city are you concentrating on?
I will be concentrating on Babylon City as the grid pattern of zoning interest me quite much.
3.4 Details of Babylon City

3.5 Conclusion about the cities
Although I am focusing on Babylon City, but the wisdom of the people during Indus valley civilization proposing the world’s first urban sanitation system admires me. As for the Babylon City, the city is well organized with markets, city center, residential area and ports.
3.6 Element that used for the new city
The grid system of Babylon City will be used in my city because this will make my city look tidy, organized and systematic. The social organization that Babylon City implied is also suitable for my city.

4.1 History of the city
Tokyo Tokyo was originally named Edo, and started to flourish after Tokugawa Shogunate in 1603. Edo grew into a huge city with a population of over a million by the mid-eighteenth century. After 1868. The Emperor moved to Edo, which was renamed Tokyo and this is how Tokyo became the capital of Japan.
SeoulThe history of Seoul started in 18 BC when it was chosen to be the capital of Baekje Kingdom. During Joeseon Dynasty, former general YI Seong-gye chose Seoul to be the capital of his empire in 1392. For the next 10 years, Seoul grew into a city with 100,000 inhabitants. In 1910 Japanese took the city of Seoul and Korea survived and was released from Japanese rule in1948. Nowadays, Seoul is a highly modern city filled with skyscrapers, traffic and 10.3 million people.

The transportation in Tokyo are systematic and well linked and it is convenient to travel from one place to another and this is the point that I want to used in my city to make people convenient travelling one place to another.
5 Investigation & Data Collection:Future Cities
Aincrad (An Incarnating Radius.) obtained from anime Sword Art Online
Aincrad is an iron-and stone made floating castle. It has about 10 kilometers floor base diameter and consists of a hundred floors stacking upwards. On each floors, there are a couple of large cities along with countless small scale towns and village, forest, and even lakes. There is only one stairway links each floor to another.
5.1 Element used for my city

The layered concept of the Aincrad will be used in my city so that my city looks systematic and tidy.
6 The “X” City
6.1 People, population religion
For the people living in “X-city” are all Malaysian and the population is between 150,000 – 500,000. Malaysian are are unique because they are mainly composed of Chinese , Malays, Indians and other ethnics. But Malaysians are special because they can live with other ethnics peacefully without declaring wars. So, the religion are mainly Buddhist , Islam, Hinddu.
6.2 What would be a good future city for them?
A good city for Malaysian is actually not a quite difficult task. A good city for Malaysian must equipped with religious area, able to live in comfort, less unemployment, a city that is suitable for all stages of lives and equipped with educational area.
6.3 Conclusion
Although the “X-city” is a good city, but due to various problem the “x-city has to be moved.

7 The New “X” City ( ORASUL ETAJE )
7.1 Name of the city
The city is called ORASUL ETAJE is because I am taking Babylon city as my reference and Babylon city is one of the roman property, so I name the city with roman. Orasul Etaje means storey city in English and the main attractive of my city is that there are different stories.
7.2 Why is it on air ?
As the major earthquakes , tsunamis and unstable of the sea bed , the city is not suitable to be enhanced on the ground, floating on the water, build under the water and obviously not underground. But, there is also problems when the city is build on air. So the exterior of the city has to be altered to suit and solve the problem.
7.3 Characteristic and elements
Orasul Etaje is an oval shaped city with 8 stories where different stories represent different areas. Orasul Etaje has to be 8 stories because 1st floor is used for government area, 2nd floor is for public spaces and gardens, 3rd floor for business and commercial area, 4th floor for residential area, 5th floor for industrial area, 6th floor for services, 7th floor for power station and 8th floor for nuclear power station The exterior of the city is made up of titanium, which is as strong as steel and weighs less. It holds its strength at high temperatures and resists corrosion better than steel or aluminium. The oval shaped of the city will reduce more air resistance compared to circular shaped. This city is sustained by 4 different energies which are solar energy, wind energy, biomass energy and lastly nuclear energy. The basic transportation in the Orasul Etaje city are public buses and subways. At the middle of the city there is a cylindrical hole where the people will travel from 1 storey to different storey with “lift”. Orasul Etaje city is

7.4 Conclusion
Although the city is on air, actually there is no much difference when the city is on the ground. People still can get education, medication, transportation, work, shop in Orasul Etaje and the city is more well organized because there are several layers compare to single layer on the ground. The layer city can be more systematic than the ground city for example the 1st floor is for government area, 2nd floor is for public spaces and gardens, 3rd floor for business and commercial area, 4th floor for residential area, 5th floor for industrial area, 6th floor for services, 7th floor for power station and 8th floor for nuclear power station compare to the ground city, all of these area are compact in single floor. So, Orasul Etaje is a suitable city for people to stay in.

ENBE | Final Project | Part A – Report | The Future City Representation
As a mayor of a city, one must be wise to plan, and organize a city that is beneficial to all the people. While planning the city, the mayor should listen to the voice and needs of the people to create or plan a city that is suitable for the people. Other than that, one must think deeply and entirely to the problem not just the surface of the problem and think long term for the future development.
Through this project, I had learnt to think long term when planning something especially the city. Every time we plan something we just think about the surface of the problem but not deeply to the root of the problem. For example while planning a city we may just think about the design of the building, residential area, commercial area, but we mostly forgot about the sewerage, electrical system, culture and religious. So, it is important to think long term.
