WHY IS OUR DIGITAL FOOTPRINT IMPORTANT?

▸ Our digital foot print is everything we leave behind through the internet such as past texts, social media posts, emails, browsing history and much more.

▸ Our digital foot print can reflect who he or she is.

▸ Have you ever googled yourself? Did you know that every web search leaves a trail of data like when you walk through a forest and you love foot prints behind you?

▸ The scary thing about our digital foot print is that it cannot be deleted so as for someone are age, in 60 years time we will still have history of ourselves such as a post when he or she was 15. That cannot be erased easily.

▸ What ever we say on the web can have some effect on us even 40 years down the road. If we said something offensive on Facebook 30 years after the initial post it can still be tracked and will stay with you for the rest of your life.

▸ Our digital foot print is essentially foot steps on a sandy beach that cannot be erased.

MY PERSONAL VIEWS ON DIGITAL FOOTPRINT

▸ We must always be careful of what we post and what we share.

▸ The internet is a wonderful place with information and keeping in contact with one another but deadly if we do something wrong

▸ Make sure when ever signing up for social media that you have privacy setting turned on to keep yourself protected

▸ Never post anything offensive or disturbing of any kind because it could come back to haunt you.

▸ Be safe on the internet, the worst way to take action in to not use the internet.

▸ What do I think about managing my digital foot print? Try scaling back on social media, keep personal info a secret, and alway think before you post. Is this the best decision?

▸ Remember don’t be scared of casting a digital foot print, just be safe with it!

WE ALL HAVE PERSONAL BRANDS AND MOST OF US HAVE ALREADY LEFT A DIGITAL FOOTPRINT, WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT. PROPER SOCIAL MEDIA USE HIGHLIGHTS YOUR STRENGTHS THAT MAY NOT SHINE THROUGH IN AN INTERVIEW OR APPLICATION AND GIVES THE WORLD A BROADER VIEW OF WHO YOU ARE. USE IT WISELY.
