Publishers/Reporters ask their audience for help on an investigation what are they seeing, etc. Users reach out to their followers for help on a topic 4. Crowdsourcing Examples Watershed Post(New Kingston, N.Y.) This site created a collection of Hurricane Sandy data based on its audiences reporting Link: http://www.watershedpost.com/sandy WNYC Map: Gauge Flooding in Real Time This community reported where they were experiencing flooding after Hurricane Sandy. A site that aggregates information from various websites based on specific terms Allows someone to create a story around a specific trend Per Storifys own description: Collect media from across the web Publish on Storify, embed anywhere Share and notify sources, go viral 6. Storify Based on the fundamentals of crowdsourcing Great tool for reporters Aggregates: Tweets, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Instagram, Google and links 7. SEO Search Engine Optimization Its what we do to make our content appear on the first page of search results Use specific words (keywords) that tell Google what the content is about Describes the content 8. SEO It goes both ways. Use good keywords to show in rankings, but also use good keywords to find good results Good keywords help you do better online searches Helps with crowdsourcing, Storify, discovering online trends, sources 9. Hashtags Symbols break them #DontUseApostrophes #911 vs #9/11 Dont be too long Should be readable even scrunched into a hashtag Dont use too many in a post.
