Nicolaus Copernicus is an all-round Renaissance man –an astronomer, a mathematician, a doctor and a clergymen.

Copernicus was born in the city of Torun on 19th February 1473. He was the youngest of four children in a wealthy family. Unfortunately, when he was ten, his father died.

From 1491 to 1495 Copernicus studied astronomy and philosophy at the University of Krakow.

Later he undertook an astronomy course in Bologna, Italy. He accomplished his education in Padua where he studied medicine and canonic law.
