I am Stephen Joseph Piotrowski, a 17 year old who currently is in the first half of junior year in MaST Community Charter School.
Most of my interests have always pertained to building things like knex and legos. Now I still stick with the same theme but I like to research computer parts and build computers or fix them whenever I get the chance. Another hobby of mine is continuous play of videogames. If I'm not playing on my console then I’m on the computer playing with people from around the world.
A huge field of many specialties. Examples
Aerospace Engineer Computer Engineer Petroleum Engineer
All engineers do the same basic tasks.
Computer Engineers have many titles: Design Engineer Development Engineer Computer Architect
All computer engineers research, design, develop, and test computer hardware and oversee its manufacture and installation.
The evolution of technology itself all started out with Benjamin Franklin, Alessandro Volta, and Luigi Galvani in the 1700s.
They all Theorized and experimented
Heinrich Rudolf Hertz detected electric waves in 1886.
Guglielmo Marconi used them waves to produce the first radio signaling system
Charles Wheatstone and Samuel F. B. Morse had created electrical communication
Led to telegraph network lines
The transistor amplified electrical currents and was better then vacuum tubes.
Vacuum tubes were electron tubes used before the transistor
Inventors started putting the transistors on chips and eventually created the first integrated circuit
The first computer was the ENIAC.
Wanted to use computers for a lot more than just solving difficult math problems.
Said computers could act like humans.
In 1971 Intel Corporation invented the microprocessor
First big step toward videogames and microcomputers
Later Apple invented the microcomputer
My Interests Math- one of my strongest subjects Science- I have a blast with experimenting Technology- love to learn about the latest
inventions Engineering field is slacking a little,
although technology careers are fast growing.
There is a decent starting salary and it has a potential to reach above $100,000.
High school Recommendations Proficient in math, and science Calculus, chemistry, and physics are taken Computer courses at a community college
College Bachelors degree in computer science,
computer engineering, or electrical engineering
Also could try for a Master’s Degree or even a Professional Degree or Doctorate
creative, curious, detail-oriented, and logical thinkers
decent report card in math, science, computers, English, and social studies
skill to work in a team
Usually works in a cozy, comfortable office Tend to be well lit, and air conditioned
Usually consists of five day and forty hours
There are times when evening or weekend work will be required to get a projected completed
There are other times when studying is required to keep up with the constantly changing technology
Lowest-paid 10 percent earned less than $53,910.
Middle half earned between $69,500 and $111,030 per year in 2006.
Highest-paid 10 percent earned more than $135,260
Work with other engineers, technicians, scientists and managers
Usually work as part of a team, but sometimes their work is done independently
They research, design, develop, test, and oversee the installation of computer hardware Examples of hardware:
computer chips circuit boards keyboards
Salary lowest salary close to $50,000 Potential to reach over $100,000
Fun change the world learn new things about the field and
computers
Can be repetitive Becomes challenging No room for mistakes Lots of difficult problem solving Consistently learning
Becomes boring Wear you down
Computer Hardware Engineer is expected to be around average
Computer Software Engineer is above average
Through 2014 to 2016 there is a below average to average employment growth Degrees in computer technology has grown Competition with foreign countries for this
career
I’m suited to become a Computer Engineer my interests
science, math, and computers Improvements
be more than proficient in college better speaker better writing skills
