Transportation in the U.S.

• Since the 1950s, national transportation policy has almost exclusively focused on building roads.

• Transportation accounts for 70% of oil use in U.S. and 30% of greenhouse gas pollution.

• According to the Federal Highway Administration, 25% of U.S. roads and bridges are in disrepair.

• Only 54% of Americans have access to public transportation, according to the US Census Bureau.

• Each year, Americans spend 4.2 billion hours stuck in traffic.
