CLICK – BBC 2
Rachel Louise Jones
Click is a self reflective, closed, multi
strand, linear documentary.
Camerawork
Typical framing for interviews and subjects
speaking to the camera. Eyeline in top third.
Low angle shots of buildings and their details.
Extreme Close Up’s ups of details on a
computer screen.
Mise-en-scene
Items relating to the technology being
discussed.
Interviews being held in the locations of the
workplace of those being talked to.
Eg. Alistar(Below) is being interviewed in one
of the “print out” houses that he is discussing.
Sound
Camera shutter sounds are used when
different topics are being talked about for a
quick transition.
A voiceover is used over some footage to tell
the audience what is going on screen.
Techno sounding music is used consistently
through most of the programme. This reflects
the topic of the whole programme and creates
that “techno” feel to it.
Editing
Simple cuts used so that the editing is unobtrusive to the viewers.
Fast motion shots are used to show the quick passing of time while people are working on this structure.
A black and white effect is used which when a person walks through that shot it flows into colour.
The shot is duplicated into four and shown all
four times.
Archive Material and Graphics:
The effect of a still image with a cut out area
for footage to be shown in is used to create an
interesting effect.
Text is layered on top of the footage to give it a
more interesting feel as it enters the shot.
There is conventional text placed over the interview shots which tells us the name of the interviewee and what they do. The logo for the programme is also on screen at this point.
An overlay is used for the “Click News” Section in which a bar at the top and bottom with the logoband news topic is visible.
Greenscreen is used to create a virtual studio
to create a more interesting feel to the details
being dicussed.
