Current situation: The preliminary design of the whole plant has been finished, and relevant process packages

Comment: Supcon Delingha 10MW Tower plant joined the national grid officially in July 5th, 2013. In

August 20th, 2016, the molten salt reconstruction project based on this 10MW project

realized one-time whole-process functioning and joined the national grid successfully.

2 Dunhuang 100MW Molten Salt

Current situation: The opening ceremony of this project was held on November 9th, 2015. And the preliminary

work has been finished completely. The former 10MW demonstration project with a 15-hour

molten salt thermal storage system started construction in August 2014, and is expected to go

into operation in October of this year.

Comment: The Reply from Jiuquan Energy Bureau to the altered technical proposal on Dunhuang

2X50MW Molten Salt Tower CSP Project of Dunhuang Shouhang IHW Resources Saving

Technology Co., Ltd., released on October 30th, 2015, agreed this altered technical proposal,

changing to 100MW single-tower molten salt tower CSP project, which also changed the

capacity of this project to 100MW in the final list.

Comment: In July 20th, 2016, the opening meeting for preparation was held in Beijing. In August 12th,

the review on the feasibility study report was finished. In August 23th, the Construction Mode

Seminar was held in Xian. The reported capacity of this project when it applying for the

demonstration project is 2X50MW. In the end, one 50MW unit was selected into the final list

of the demonstration projects.

joint venture composed of Brightsource and Shanghai Electric. It adopts the DSG technique,

which yields superheated steam directly and stores thermal energy through transferring heat

from steam to molten salt.

Introduction of China Three Gorges New Energy Co., Ltd: China Three Gorges New Energy Co., Ltd (TGNE) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China

Three Gorges Corporation (TGC), bearing the historical missions of developing new energy

and forging the second main business of TGC. In recent years, TGNE is vigorously

developing land wind power and PV, positively exploiting offshore wind power, steadily

enhancing small and medium hydropower business, carrying forward CSP and closely

following other renewable energy techniques such as tidal energy and biomass energy,

basically forming a business structure of mutual support and collaborative development in

four main domains, namely wind power, solar power, small hydropower and equipment

manufacturing.

Status of project: Construction of this project is planned to start in October of

this year. The base of tower and plant will be built first.

Comment: The project adopts the unique beam down tower CSP technique. At present, there is only one

100KW demonstration system with this technique around the world. Xinchen Company

completed a 300KW beam down demonstration project in Yancheng, Jiangsu in 2015. Based

on the above demonstration project, the commercial 50MW project will start in Yumen. The

project will build some beam down towers, composing 50MW capacity together. Shanghai

Parasol and Jiangsu Xinchen have some connections. They both work on driving the

commercial application of the beam down system with molten salt.

8 Yumen 100MW Molten Salt Tower

industry promotion in the area of distributed solar utilization. Main businesses cover high

temperature evacuated collector tube, system integration of thermal field and system of

distributed solar combined supply of cooling, heating and power. As one of the pioneers in

China CSP area, Changzhou Royal has made a major breakthrough in key component of CSP,

whose homemade high temperature evacuated collector tube is successfully applied in

overseas commercial plant for the first time. Its technique in system integration of thermal

field was ranked as international advanced level by CSP Services, an international

authoritative institution in CSP.

Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd. and the government of Tianjin Binhai High-tech Zone.

Shenzhen Jinfan is the then project applying body, but the actual body has been changed to

Tianjin Binhai. Tianjin Binhai brought in the world’s leading CSP techniques, aiming to

realize localized production to reduce cost. Its ultimate goal is to build a 200MW base

equipped with a large-scale system including heat collection, thermal storage, heat exchange

and power generation and a world-class CSP R&D center. The Akesai project will rely on this

base to realize the localization of equipment.

Testing project, it has accumulated integration experience in trough mirror field. Meanwhile,

it’s a new three board listed company, which, to some extent, is favorable to its financing.

Status of project: The construction work was officially started in July 1st, 2014. Northwest Electric Power

Storage Island, signed the EPC contract with CGN side in March 1st this year and then it

started work immediately. EPC contract of Sun Island was signed officially in late August.

Now, the preparation for construction is underway.

Comment: This plant is the first commercial 50MW parabolic trough built in China.

information shows, Guo Tou Jun An is a professional company specializing in promoting

CSP technology and projects founded under the help of State-owned Assets Supervision and

Administration Commission (SASAC) and National Development and Reform Commission

(NDRC).

Comment: Skyfuel, the technology partner and founded in 2007, innovated reflecting mirror and heat

collector in trough CSP. Its featured product is a new reflecting mirror based on the

reflectance coating technique, which uses ReflectTechPLUS as coating. Moreover, it

designed SkyTrough(R), which is a high-performance parabolic trough heat collector.

Equipped with SkyTrough(R), the performance of heat collector has been enhanced and the

cost reduced significantly.

17 Dacheng Dunhuang 50MW Molten Salt Fresnel

Location of project: Dunhuang, Gansu

Status of project: Project filing has been completed.

The first 10MW is under-construction.

Comment: The applied capacity was 110MW. The final capacity approved is 50MW.

Introduction of project owner: Lanzhou Dacheng has carried on the development and research of key components and

system integration since 2008. In May 2012, it built China’s first 200KW Fresnel &Trough

CSP system. At present, it focuses on Fresnel technique, which is quite suitable to be applied

in Northwest of China. The Fresnel heat collector with full intellectual property, relying on

independent research and development, have many advantages, such as small land

occupation, strong wind resistance, short construction period, easy testing and simple

maintenance. This project is the world’s first commercial molten salt Fresnel CSP plant.

Development Co., Ltd. in December 26th, 2014 with registered capital of RMB42500.

19 Zhangjiakou 50MW

Comment: This project also adopts the improved Fresnel technique provided by Beijing Terasolar

Photothermal Technologies Co., Ltd. Main technological innovation lies in its unique heat

collector designing and all solid state formulated concrete thermal storage technique. The

applied price is RMB1.12/kWh, which is the lowest among the first batch of 20 demonstration

projects. Zhangjiakou No.1 15MW CSP plant, which is now under-construction by Huaqiang

Zhaoyang, is expected to join the national grid at the end of this year.

Group, CITIC Limited, Inner Mongolia Power Co., Ltd. and China Shenhua Energy Company

Limited with a registered capital of RMB10 billion. Once in a monopoly position, now it’s a

pretty competitive market entity.

Information on CSP Services

CSP Services GmbH, Concentrating Solar Power Services, is a spin-off company of the German

Aerospace Center (DLR) in Cologne, Germany, with know-how licensed from DLR. CSPS

offers engineering and consulting services for developers, operators and owners of solar thermal

power plants applying innovative and specific measurement techniques to assure high

performance solar fields.

Besides the know-how in standard measurement technologies, special techniques such as close

range photogrammetry and deflectometry together with specially developed evaluation and

assessment tools serve the clients for prototype evaluation, quality assurance, inspection and

performance improvement of solar fields in concentrating solar power plants (i.e. parabolic

troughs, heliostats, Fresnel systems, dishes). CSPS supports its clients to decrease risks,

increase project performance, and gain competitiveness in the growing concentrating solar

power market sector.

Our range of products and services includes the geometric quality assurance systems QFoto

(3D point measurements of large structures in series production) and QDec (high-resolution

shape measurements of reflective surfaces in series production) for application in solar power

plants. For solar irradiation resource assessment, we supply the automatic weather stations MDI

(for DNI measurement at remote sites) and MHP (for high-precision DNI measurement and

solar power plant monitoring). With our mobile solar field measurement services, we assess the
