Deploying its cloud service offering within Equinix’s International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data centers was a given for Voxel. “We’ve built our international network and content delivery network (CDN) on top of the Equinix global data center services delivery platform over the past seven years. Deploying with Ease To tap into the burgeoning market demand for cloud services, Voxel wanted to quickly roll out its VoxCLOUD offering. According to Dutt, “We couldn’t afford a six to nine month lead time to turn up a location.”
Equinix’ vast global footprint of IBX data centers combined with operational consistency across its facilities and dedicated account teams enabled Voxel to quickly achieve its goals. In 38 metropolitan areas, Equinix has facilities in every major market where Voxel wanted to establish a service presence. Moreover, with each facility being nearly identical in terms of layout, service features, engineering standards, and operational practices, Voxel always knows what to expect.

Because Voxel’s initial international deployments went so well, they also decided to further extend the reach of VoxCLOUD Asia by deploying a service node into the Equinix data center in Hong Kong. Within 30 days, it was up and running – without sending any Voxel employees to the data center. Today, Voxel is leveraging Equinix in eight strategic metropolitan areas around the world: Chicago, Dallas, Washington, D.C., New York, Silicon Valley, Amsterdam, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Establishing the Standard for PerformanceWhen companies deploy applications in the cloud, they are usually very concerned about the end-user experience. They understand that latency matters and that it can cripple customer satisfaction, end-user productivity, revenue, and brand. To address those concerns, Voxel was intent on delivering the best network performance available in the market. “Being in Equinix IBX data centers puts us in close proximity to hundreds of different networks and through these networks, closer to our customers. As a result, we have the some of the lowest latency and fastest service paths to our customers,” says Dutt.
Independent tests confirm the performance of the Voxel network architecture enabled by Equinix. In a benchmarking report produced by CloudHarmony.com, Voxel was ranked as having the fastest network of US-based cloud service providers. “By effectively leveraging Equinix’s carrier neutrality, global peering exchanges, and B2B interconnection services, we can ensure a high quality end-user experience for our customers,” add Dutt.
