A 3 year project with AusAID-PACAP through Aklan CAN under the project titled “Tourism through Optimum Utilization of the Resources of Aklan” or TOUR Aklan and one of the projects under TOUR is the “Further Development of the Markets and Services for the Traditional Textile Producers of HAMPCO” Started in December 2002 and ended in May 2008.
It is community based project that engage in handloom weaving using indigenous natural fibers available in Aklan such as piña, raffia, and abaca fibers as the major raw materials. This centuries old industry which is part of the tradition, history and culture of Aklan is bringing income to many families in the province.
