Model HP Mini 2012 Criminal Charges Possession of stolen property REPORT: This laptop was stolen during a vehicle burglary and was one of several items taken from the victim. The device only connected to the Internet a couple of times, but each time, the Investigations and Recovery Team used Absolute forensic tools to gather data on its whereabouts. Within two weeks of the theft, the suspected user was identified and a case was presented to local law enforcement. Within four hours of the case assignment, the property was recovered for the victim. Police investigation revealed a short chain of possession for the stolen laptop; the suspected user received the device from a relative, who purchased it from a known offender in the area. The suspected thief was eventually charged with dealing in stolen property, a crime frequently associated with that person, and the laptop was returned to the owner. The suspect in this case lived less than one half mile from the victim – you never know who your neighbors can be!
