MIG/LBT - 15.06.13
Marc Leobet For the French Point of contact
Building on Infrastructure for spatial information : A good story about INSPIRE and SMEs
MIG/LBT - 15.06.13
Reducing the step
• Most of us are amazed by the complexity of INSPIRE regulations
• SMEs can bridge the gap between INSPIRE codes and public authorities
• Touch few, they will teach to many
• Edition of “INSPIRE for dummies” in 2009, 2010 and 2011 • Then collaborative groups lead to expert consensus and technical guidelines :
• Dataset’s metadata (December 2011) • Managing metadata catalogs (August 2012) • Services’ metadata (December 2012)
MIG/LBT - 15.06.13
A good story
• Isogéo, a little society (3 guys, now 7) develops a new tool helping to catalog datasets and to share metadata;
• « Your catalog is your capital, – know what belongs to you, then share it. »
• and begins to sell it. • Last month, a Département took their tool
for an Open Data portal

Conclusion
• Upper uses of SDI are coming in France : – At national level (Geoportal for Urban
planning) – In related fields (Open data) – Inside organisations (National Centre for
Scientific Research) • We are leaving the first INSPIRE expert
circle, • We need SMEs to spread INSPIRE
solutions
