Reducing the step

• Most of us are amazed by the complexity of INSPIRE regulations

• SMEs can bridge the gap between INSPIRE codes and public authorities

• Touch few, they will teach to many

• Edition of “INSPIRE for dummies” in 2009, 2010 and 2011 • Then collaborative groups lead to expert consensus and technical guidelines :

• Dataset’s metadata (December 2011) • Managing metadata catalogs (August 2012) • Services’ metadata (December 2012)

A good story

• Isogéo, a little society (3 guys, now 7) develops a new tool helping to catalog datasets and to share metadata;

• « Your catalog is your capital, – know what belongs to you, then share it. »

• and begins to sell it. • Last month, a Département took their tool

for an Open Data portal

Conclusion

• Upper uses of SDI are coming in France : – At national level (Geoportal for Urban

planning) – In related fields (Open data) – Inside organisations (National Centre for

Scientific Research) • We are leaving the first INSPIRE expert

circle, • We need SMEs to spread INSPIRE
