Step One – Register a Domain Name



Now we can set up your DNS to point at Blogger’s servers.

This involves modifying the Domain Name System records relating to your domain.

Here are a series of screenshots to take you through the process.

Step Two – Set up your DNS



1. Login to your Domainmonster.com account.



2. Select the domain name that you want to use with your Blogger blog and click the Manage button on the right hand side of the page.

3. Click the ‘Manage DNS’ option in the centre of the screeen.



4. Check the box next to the ‘A record’ with the Hostname www.



5. Now click the ‘Save DNS Updates’ button at the bottom of the screen.



6. Next, in the ‘Add Record’ section, click the first dropdown menu and select ‘1’.



7. In the next dropdown menu, choose the ‘CNAME’ option.



8. In the ‘Alias’ field, simply enter “www” (without quotation marks).



9. In the ‘Address’ field, simply enter “ghs.google.com” (without quotation marks).



10. Now click the ‘Add Record’ button just below these fields.



11. Next, you’ll need to make sure that the ‘A’ box is checked in the ‘Update Records’ part of the screen.



12. Delete the contents of the ‘IP Address’ field and enter “216.239.32.21” (without quotation marks).



13. Click Save DNS Updates



Part 1 done!

Your domain name is now set to point at the Blogger.com servers.

[Don’t forget that this process can take up to 8 hours to fully take effect!]

The next part of the process is to let Blogger know which domain name you’re pointing towards which blog!

There you go!



1. Select the blog that you wish to use your custom domain name with.



2. Click the ‘Settings’ option from the left hand menu.



3. Now, in the ‘Publishing’ section, click the ‘Add a custom domain’ link.



4. Type your domain name (including www.) into the text box.



5. Click the ‘Save’ button.



[If you get an error and another CNAME record is

listed, simply follow steps 6 – 10 from the earlier part

of this slideshow, substituting the Alias and Address

fields for the fields provided by Google, and then

repeat the Blogger steps.]
