A black hole is a region of space where nothing, not even light can escape

They are thought to be the last stage of life for a star

Black Holes are formed as old stars collapse

As the starts core stars to collapse gravity takes control and the star explodes

The gravity becomes so strong and dense that nothing can escape thus creating a Black Hole

The center of the Black Hole is most often referred to as the “singularity”

Surrounding the “singularity” is the “event horizon”, which is the area in which things are pulled back into the Black Hole

Black Holes rotate at several thousand revolutions per second

The lack of light makes Black Holes invisible in space

The nearest Black Hole is several light-years away
