Bio-dynamics at work

• EKO GEA’s additive supports the microbiology of both aerobic & anaerobic processes to achieve all of the wastewater treatment requirements:

– Hydrolysis, sedimentation, nitrification, de-nitrification, BNR, disinfection– Reduction of COD, sulphides, phophorous, and TSS

• EKO GEA is not microbes, but a unique bacterial culture which supports beneficial microbial growth - FOOD + PROTECTION + SHELTER

– Microbes are the workers in waste reduction– Many inhibitors exist in wastewater which kills the biology/microbes (household chemicals, industrial

effluent, H2S, ammonia, etc.)– EKO GEA supports these conventional, naturally-occurring microbes in wastewater so they thrive and

multiply = more workers!

• Food – EKO GEA’s marine algae is full of balanced, bio-available nutrients – Ascophyllum nodosum is among the most nutritious vegetables on the planet – far more nutrition than any

land plant – chelated, colloidal and bio-available– Oligosaccharides in particular – a unique energy source for microbes

• Protection – Alginates protect microbes against toxins/microbial inhibitors in wastewater

• Shelter – within EKO GEA’s AD WwTPlant - bio-media for housing microbes so they are not dependent on coagulation for shelter = more microbes – more aerobic and anaerobic digestion

Contains full range of nutrients (oligosaccharides & trace

elements, of particular use to microbes)

• Microbes are more robust = increased microbial proliferation in each WwT stage = more workers• Better efficiencies in both aerobic & anaerobic processes

• Complete digestion of organic content = 20 - 40% less sludge (depending on organic content) • Less O2 usage• BOD, TSS reduction• Increased plant capacities

Bio-available, organic nutrition

Naturally-occurring, colloidal, chelated = bio-available

- Same as above - - Same as above -

Contains alginatesPhysical gel-like barrier for

microbial coagulation & protection from toxins

Microbes are protected = less toxicity = less microbial inhibition/die-off = microbes are more robust = more proliferation in each WwT stage = more workers

- Same as above -

Negatively charged (bio-chemically)

Biological ion-exchange

• Immediate bio-chemical H2S & NH3

reduction • Reduction of Phosphorous/Nitrates• Sequesters heavy metals, reduces other chemical compounds = less toxicity = less microbial inhibition/die-off = microbes are more robust = more workers

• Deprivation of Phosphorous, Nitrates & metals nutrient source = No filamentous algae • No odours• Heavy metal reduction• COD reduction

Provides process Stability

Feeding and protecting microbes

Stability / less chemical interference= less up and down performance

Stable Ww processing, without chemicals

Why EKO GEA is

effective

FeedsMicrobes

Simply put, EKO GEA is and provides a superior “bacterial culture media” for microbes

– a technological leap in wastewater treatment – truly “bio-active”

Page 4: Biological Wastewater Treatment Solutions

• Imagine if conventional wastewater treatment plants (WwTP’s) could…

– Reduce sludge by 20-40% in its conventional WwT plants

– Eliminate the use of PAC, FeCl2, Fe2(SO4)3, FeSO4

– Eliminate monitoring for and chemical treatment of filamentous algae bloom

– Eliminate nuisance odour complaints

– Reduce 02 consumption

– Provide an effective, low-cost, off-mains sewerage treatment plant that produces 87% methane

Two offerings Wastewater Treatment Companies

Additive for conventional plants NewGen AD plant for off-mains

Hurdles• “Additive” - a dirty word in WwT…• The only way to prove our product’s efficacy is through a full plant trial (60 days)

Resolutions• Send a Company rep to Slovenia; see our product in use; speak to plant operators & institutions• Identify a small WwT plant for a trial

Hurdles• Technology is just coming into production by EKO GEA, but is based on proven technology - plants in-situ for 10 years

• Currently building 75-100 PE treatment plant which we can deliver on-site for under Є20,000; under 10 m³ footprint)

Resolutions• Monitor the performance of the mini plant• Install a mini-plant within the Company network and do your own evaluation

Note: Both offerings feature EKO GEA’s proprietary, bio-active marine algae additive

Page 6: Biological Wastewater Treatment Solutions

• Safe – Certified organic under EEC 2381/94, EG 8342007, and EG8992008 which governs organic production,

labeling and control of animal and human feedstuffs. – 100% Ascophyllum nodosum marine algae – a vegetable product and feedstuff– No danger of overdosing or misuse

• Bio-active – a superior bacterial culture media• Easy-to-administer – can be dosed using existing facilities, processes and equipment for conventional

plants– No retro-fitting or capital expense – can utilise existing dosage pumps and administered in any plant

configuration– EKO GEA’s current WwTPlant customers employ a variety of equipments and a full range of processes– A simple dilution in water added with incoming waste

• no waiting time, no other procedure

– Flexible with regard to where in the process it is administered– One labour requirement BEFORE administration

• Filamentous algae must be physically-scrubbed from the top of existing settling tanks1. Lower the water volume by 20 cm2. Scrub/scrape to remove obvious filaments3. Re-fill tank and use EKO GEA

• A one-time procedure only – Filamentous algae will NOT return in the presence of EKO GEA additive• Works by natural phosphorous and nitrogen reduction (via biological ion-exchange) – depriving

algae of its nutrient source – prevention and complete control

EKO GEA's full product line is certified ORGANIC under the European Community EEC 2381/94, EG 8342007, and EG8992008 which governs organic production, labeling and control of animal and human feedstuffs. All of EKO GEA’s products can be sold and used in the eco -systems of agriculture in

all member states of the European Cogmmunity without special permission.

How It Works

Enhanced Filtration Anaerobic Digestion (AD) Biological Ion-exchange

EKO GEA’s bio-media is packed into thebio-filter and offers the followingattributes:

Physical filtration capacity whichexceeds that of activated charcoal or otherfiltration media

Exponential surface area increases foranaerobic bacteria culture growthIon-exchange capacity for reduction of

phosphorous, nitrate, and heavy metalsEKO GEA’s bio-media is volcanic, naturalstone which is chemically & biologicallyinert. It is 97% silica and is especiallyporous, lightweight, and robust. Due to itsvulcanisation, it does not compress andacts to prevent clogging. Mostimportantly, it “shelters” micro-organismsin its vast surface area and allows forexponential increases in numbers ofmicrobial “workers”.

Anaerobic digestion (AD) uses microbialaction to digest sewage. AD is one of thecentral technologies used in conventionalwastewater treatment plants (WwTP’s),and it is not typically very well understoodby practitioners, public officials, or thepublic. EKO GEA, using its expertise as acommercial biology company involved inboth biological WwT and biogasproduction, has developed a number ofinnovations which speed and protect theperformance of AD microorganisms. Thisoverall stabilising effect means rapid,problem-free, efficient decomposition ofsewage.

EKO GEA’s system provides 2 separate ion-exchange mechanisms, via the ion-exchangecapacities of both the bio-active additive andthe bio-media.Both are negatively charged and "offer"negative ions to cation (positively-charged)elements in the water (phosphates, nitrates, ammonia, hydrogen sulphide…).This ion-exchange capacity also results in our product’sability to block metals and eliminate odours.EKO GEA is at the forefront of waste treatmenttechnology via the biological ion-exchangecapacities of our products.
