BEST PRACTICES WHEN WORKING WITH IMAGES
TIP #1: START WITH THE RIGHT SIZE
• Start with an image that is a good resolution match.
• Do not simply resize larger the thumbnails from image search results or other small images.
Avoid Pixelation!
TIP #1: START WITH THE RIGHT SIZE
Trick for estimating the minimum-sized image you need:
1. Draw a rectangle the size desired.2. Right-click on the rectangle and select
Format Shape.3. Click on Size.4. Note the height and width
measurements in inches.5. Multiply the measurements by 110 for the
pixel dimensions of the shape.6. List width first.
Example: Height = 4.58” & Width = 2.58”Pixel Dimensions = 284 x 504
2.58”
284 pixels
4.58” 504 pixels
TIP #2: RESIZE FROM THE CORNERS
• Resize images by dragging-and-dropping from the corners. Avoid resizing from the sides, top, or bottom.
• If you are having trouble getting an image to fit in a space, consider cropping the image or find another image.
Avoid Disproportion!
TIP #3: CROP TOOL
• If the image is too wide or tall, crop the image. • Click once on an image to select it.• Click on the Format tab and then select
the Crop tool.
The images on the right are the same size. Which one looks better?

able to retrieve the deleted content later.
