An iBeacon device is a BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) device that transmits its identification information:
● UUID● Major● Minor● Tx power
This information is hierarchical and the UUID is the beacon’s principal identifier.

So on other hand, Beacon is 'extention' of location technology :
● It is look like GPS but uses a lot less battery● GPS doesn't work inside a building. BLE does!.
