Versatile and modular UHF Audio Monitoring system.

High audio quality, low power consumption andminiaturised dimensions thanks to the patented TMVWBtransmission system.

Ancillary equipment also allows re-routing of the audiosignal through several types of communication channels.

UHF AUDIO MONITORINGTMWB

The Time Modulation Very Wide Band(TMVWB) is a pulsed transmissiontechnique developed and patented byBEA.

This proprietary modulation reduces theprobability of detection and interceptionwith RF detectors or other conventionalsweeping techniques and drasticallyreduces the average power consumptionof the transmitter, allowing operatingtimes over 30 times longer thanconventional transmitters with the samepeak output power level.

TMVWB devices produce an excellentaudio quality thanks to the widebandwidth and high dynamic range, andare particularly indicated for long termdeployments using small battery packs.

Page 2: Bea catalogue

The TMVWB family of transmitters is characterised by a thin package, making it an ideal candidate for deployments where deep concealmentis paramount. Available in several versions, each one developed to answer specific operational requirements and fully compatible with allother system components, BEA’s micro transmitters can also be remotely controlled by an external miniature RF Switch.

Transmitters

Micro2 NTRepresents the basic transmitter of theTMVWB family and is characterised by anexceptionally small footprint. Its very lowpower consumption allows operatingtimes in excess of 700 hours using astandard 9 volt Lithium non rechargeablebattery.

Adoption of the latest generation ofsemiconductor devices and a carefullydesigned layout ensure frequencystability and power efficiency. It can beeasily concealed, and includes a thin wireantenna for quick transmitter installationand rapid system deployment.

Micro2 HP NTA high powered version of the Micro2 NTis also available in order to provide arobust radio link in situations wherelonger distances between the target andthe observation post may be required.

The addition of an internal RF amplifierincreases the operational range of theMicro2 HP NT transmitter whilstmaintaining power consumption wellwithin the capability of battery packs.

The built-in AGC ensures an optimalaudio level even in difficult acousticalenvironments.

Micro3A revised modulator gives Micro3 anextended audio bandwidth of up to 8KHz, providing exceptional speechintelligibility even in reverberantacoustical environments.

The built-in automatic microphone gaincontrol ensures that an optimal audiolevel is transmitted at all times, irrespective of the acoustical level in theenvironment.

Micro2 STMicro2 ST pushes the boundaries ofconcealment & miniaturisation.

This special-purpose transmitter uses aproprietary low profile radiator andmatching network design instead of theusual 1/4 wave wire antenna.

The solution decreases its effectivefootprint and thus allows rapiddeployment in confined spaces withoutthe need to worry about the placementof the antenna.

Micro2MagneticMicro2 Magnetic is a coin-shapedtransmitter with microphone, antennaand battery embedded in a compactpackage.

The magnetic support allows quickinstallations onto metal surfaces that, thanks to our proprietary matchingnetwork, will also act as an antenna.

Easy to use and to conceal: once set up,the two non-rechargeable Lithiumbatteries ensure up approx. 200 hoursworking.

Quad Finder LL / VLow power compact GSM unit supplied inplastic cover for concealment on targets.

Easy to program with SMS transmitted by amobile phone, it communicates its BTSpositional information via SMS to themonitoring station, which provides adisplay of its location on dedicated mapsusing DOGE software.

Polo CSSFirmware add-on to all Polo versions toperform data collection for CSS databasecreation.

Polo CSS can collect a set of informationabout the main BTS to which it is registeredand of its adjacent cells and correlate themwith the corresponding GPS position.

Data collection can be performed evenduring the tracking activity: the user canretrieve the CSS content independentlyfrom the tracking data. Advancedoperational strategies can be performedwith real time data collection.

With Doge CSS version, the user is able touse the Polo as collector unit, to downloadthe collected data and to store them intothe database. Doge CSS is an extension thatrequires a full of Doge software license.

CSS (Cell Site Survey System)When no database of the BTS position isavailable or a higher accuracy is needed, it ispossible to create proprietary GSM map ofan area using the CSS, thus tracking targetswithout GPS availability, but with accuracyand reliability.

CSS provides more precise targetlocalisation than Time Advance estimationalone can. The information sent by thetracking unit is compared with data storedin the data base and the most likely targetGPS positions are visualised on themapping display.

Developed with particular attention topower consumption in order to improve thebattery duration, the device is usuallyasleep and wakes up according to theconfiguration setup. This allowsdeployment of the unit weeks before theoperation is due to commence.

Nowadays targets are more and more aware of the possiblethreats and use countermeasures to prevent monitoring.

In some operational environments a remotely controlledstore and forward solution can be used to gatherinformation without emitting detectable radio-frequencyenergy.

The WIFI transmission technique is idealfor store and forward applicationsbecause it enables a faster connection, better range from the base station, andbetter security than Bluetooth.

Moreover, In urban environments, a Wifitransmission is less suspicious than otherRF emissions.

Thoro

Thoro is a high quality digital audiorecorder developed specifically for covertapplications. Configuration and datadownload is performed via WIFI.

The device supports mono and stereorecording via two external microphones.

The low-noise analogue front-end anddigitally controlled AGC ensures anoptimal signal to noise ratio and its highquality 16bit ADC provides 86dB ofdynamic range (excluding the AGC).

The audio signal can be digitized usingsampling rates between 8 and 32KHz andsaved to memory in uncompressed PCM.

The recorded audio is saved to aninternal memory using a proprietary filesystem. Recordings must be extracted viaa custom application that allows theconversion to a standard MP3 orWAV file.

The unit, supplied with an 8 GB memory, allows more than 1 day of audio data to

be stored, using the highest recordingquality (16 bits 32 Khz).

Memory sizes of up to 16GB are currentlysupported by the device and areavailable on request.

Recording can be automatically activatedby a VOX or vibration event or at specifictimes: the internal clock is powered by aseparate miniature rechargeable Lithiumbattery, ensuring absolute accuracy ofthe recording time-stamps.

Once programmed the user can switchtheWiFi off and activate it manually witha dedicated remote control that alsomanages the unit power supply.Alternatively, the unit can be set for aperiodic wake up and automaticdownload of the tracks.

The configuration is performed over theair via theWiFi connection:- recording mode (mono/stereo)- recording quality (sample rate, bit

depth)- date/time- VOX and motion threshold, release

and attack times- one-off and periodic timed activations- SSID- WiFi channel- automatic WiFi activation and

automatic track download

The unit uses an internal chip antenna

and is supplied in a robust plasticcontainer. To facilitate its concealment, itcan also be supplied in OEM version withthermoplastic sleeve that further reducesthe unit’s footprint.

A led on the unit reports power status, recording and downloading status.

Please contact our Office forrecommended ancillary items, such ashigh-gain receiving antennas that canextend the unit’s operational range.

THORO MANAGER, supplied in theTHORO KIT, is the custom application tomanage the unit, read and download theaudio files.

The "Monitor" feature allows listening tothe live audio and simultaneously recordon the card. The monitoring feature ismeant mainly to test the audio settingsand not to perform a real time audiomonitoring since, due to bufferingrequirements, there may be a delaywhose entity depends on the bandwidthavailability (<10 secs). The monitoredaudio is sent in the lowest bit depth (8bit)but is recorded using the settings givenby the user.

NEW

Page 26: Bea catalogue

DogeProprietary software managing all GPSand GSM tracking units developed byBEA.

Flexible and modular, it allows operationas both standalone workstation and onclient/server basis and to manage adatabase with possible selections andfiltering of the contained information.

Its graphic interface is extremely intuitiveand easily customizable by the customer.User management rights based onprofiles, password protected.

The client/server option allows anextranet connection on IP address to theWeb Viewer interface.

Communication between the remoteunit and Doge is based on proprietaryprotocol, for high reliability & security.

Positions sent by the remote units viaSMS, CSD or GPRS, are displayed onMapPoint2010, Raster Maps, GoogleMaps or played on Google Earth with anexternal plug-in. Data can be exported inreal time or saved in NMEA0183 format.

Doge CSSWhen no database of the BTS position isavailable or a higher accuracy is needed,it is possible to create proprietary GSMmap of an area using the CSS (Cell SiteSurvey System), thus tracking targetswithout GPS availability, but with goodaccuracy and reliability. CSS is a useful

tool for the GSM tracking because itprovides more precise target localisationthan the Time Advance estimationtechnique. The information sent by thetracking unit is compared with datastored in the data base and the mostlikely target positions are visualised onthe mapping display.

Data collection for CSS database creationcan be done through the GPS trackingunit Polo CSS and its versions. It canrecord a set of information about themain BTS to which it is registered and of

its adjacent cells and correlate themwiththe corresponding GPS position. WithDoge CSS software the user is able to setthe Polo as collector unit, to downloadthe collected data and to store them intothe database. When the GSM remote unitsends an SMS with a GSM position thesoftware searches and matches it in thedatabase and displays the correlated GPSinformation on the map.

Doge CSS is an extension of Dogesoftware, so it requires full Doge license.
