She was telling me that even though competitive solutions don’t offer nearly as much functionality as we do or indeed have the robust audit capabilities some customers care more about that the solution is easy to use.

User License Management Utility

Special thanks to members of the Product Advisory Council. Good debates and useful insights. The more detailed screen to see which users are accessing which screens does not really lend itself to PowerPoint. In that screen, users will be able to see who is using what screens and how long they have been in there. A user no longer requires a LanPak either to see who is logged on. We will provide the administrator the capability to message users to log out of the system. We are also exploring the option of providing a “kill” capability in Product Update 1 which would provide users with admin type capabilities to forcibly log people out of the system. R&D cannot guarantee data integrity 100% although we believe the potential for data corruption is limited. We originally decided to remove this feature but further research with customers suggested they REALLY want this feature and believe the onus is on the client to use this wisely. It is interesting to note that on a recent call with the consultants at Net@Work to review the road map there was a robust debate on both sides. Richard and I plan to do more research at Summit and make a call on this shortly after Summit.

New VPF’s for PJC, UP & CP. We have VPF’s for each of the main modules now. In future releases we will change our focus and deliver more VPF’s by user Persona that cross modules for persona’s such as Controllers for example.

The number 1 request we heard from customers and partners was to extend the capability of VPF’s to link to 3rd party products, custom reports, ISV’s or MACROS. We have now added this capability and believe this has the potential to greatly increase adoption. Many partners have shared with me that they demo the portal but no longer implement it because it is too hard to implement and maintain. They saw the potential to leverage VPF’s instead but REALLY wanted this extra functionality. Now you have it so let’s make it count!

This feature introduces greater control in the system by ensuring that users who incorrectly assign the same serial numbers to multiple items are unable to do so. However, if they want to be able to enter duplicate serial numbers they can continue to do so. Customers who incorrectly assign an existing serial number to a second item will be blocked from doing so when it should not be allowed.

Default Bill of Materials

When a customer is creating an assembly the default BOM will be assigned automatically when the user enters the item number. Users can reassign BOM’s as needed for seasonal items to speed up data entry and minimize user error. A user may build a desk. Various components are needed to build the desk. They may decide to use different BOM combinations based on seasonal variation or availability. The default BOM greatly reduces user error and makes it faster to create the transaction.
