Where does the Macaw come from?
• The Macaw is originally from Mexico, Central and South America.

• The Macaw eats a variety of food including seeds, nuts, fruits, palm fruits, leaves, flowers, and stems.
How long do they live?
• You may have heard bird lovers mention that the Macaw can live for nearly 100 years as a pet. But only up to 60 years in the wild.
How big is the Macaw? • Macaws come in a variety of
sizes.• They can weigh up to 1.7 kg.• Can be up to 1metre long
from beak to tail.• Can have a wingspan of up
to 1.5 metres. • They are the largest member
of the parrot family.
The Macaw’s Beak
• The Macaw’s large, powerful beak can easily crack nuts and seeds. Their dry scaly tongue has a bone inside it that they use for tapping into fruits.
Why is the Macaw colourful?
• The Macaw colouring is suited to life in Central and South American rain forests greenery, colourful fruits and flowers.
