Issue: Managing Extreme Weather

What is sustainable management?Based on the following aims:

Examples of drought management:o Basic water conservationo Adapting farming techniqueso Drip irrigationo Agroforestry

Independent extended tasks: (following lesson 18th January)

1. Complete a development compass rose (see above) for drought in Ethiopia.

2. Compare the Ethiopia drought with the impacts of the Australian drought.

3. Exam Question: spend 20 minutes only on this.

4. Q: Referring to a drought that you have studied, assess how far its biggest impacts were economic, social or environmental.
