Evaporation is the major source of heat loss for all swimming pools. To minimize energy/heat loss one must cover the pool

Covering the pool is the single most effective means of reducing energy/heat loss

Why use a Pool Cover?

Ease of use and installation

Inexpensive – Low capital costs and maintenance

Works 24 / 7, even when pool is in use

Safety Allows pool to be viewed to the bottom

Avoid entrapment

Commercial liability

Benefit Comparison

Plastic Pool Blanket HeatsavrTM and EcosavrTM

Application

Time consuming, potentially complicated and can

require more than one person. Automatic, hands-free easy application that

requires absolutely little storage and no labor to

apply Requires roller and storage.

Effectiveness

Savings of 50-70% can be achieved but only

when the cover is correctly covering the pool!

Savings from 15% - 45% can be achieved 24

hours a day, 7 days a week. You will be fully

covered

Difficult to cover free form pools and around

fountains and/or waterfalls.

Easily cover free form pools, and can cover

around water falls and faountains

Esthetics Even a high quality plastic pool blanket diminishes

the beauty of a back yard area

The liquid cover is entirely transparent and allows

your pool to look its natural best

Safety While a pool cover is in use, there is always a risk

that a child or pet will become trapped underneath

the cover.

HeatsavrTM and EcosavrTM are safe for all pool

users. Pool owners and operators can relax,

knowing that their pool is covered at all times.

The active ingredients in liquid pool covers are biodegradable organic compounds. Extensive testing proves that the active ingredients we have chosen do the best possible job at reducing evaporation, saving water and energy in every pool

The carrier agent is a bio-based Ethanol which evaporates off the pool water within minutes of being dose. Ethanol allows the active ingredients to spread out quickly and effectively. When the carrier agent is not an alcohol, as in some competing products, the resulting application is a slurry or milky solution, which spreads more slowly and may coagulate.

What is it made of?

Page 6: All About Liquid Pool Covers

HeatsavrTM consists of molecules that are attracted to water at one end and repelled by water at the other. Each molecule entangles with its neighbors forming a barrier that slows the evaporation of water molecules

Molecules spread out at a rate of 6 mph

Pool Chemistry

“ In conclusion, pool water quality components common monitored by pool operators, including: free, total and combined chlorine; water temperature, total dissolved solids, cyanuric acid, pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, saturation index, iron, copper, nitrates, phosphates and clarity were not affected by the addition of Heatsavr. Minor fluctuations in water chemistry that occurred during the 30-minute test periods were more likely a consequence of normal chemical consumption resulting from introduction of bather and environmental wastes, and automated chemical injection.”

Alison Osinski, Ph. D.
