The Cloud is no longer something that is an emerging trend; rather it has become a consideration that is evaluated at all levels of IT. As the Cloud has emerged, it has changed the way companies build their internal networking, and the way they take these products to market. Business leaders expect rapid growth and scalability, looking outside of the organization if their needs cannot be met. It is also hard for companies to determine which products will truly increase their bottom line, and which will pass in time.

The Cloud has also become a source of concern, as IT leaders fear a loss of control. Some are concerned, feeling that they are losing control of their domain. While others see it as an opportunity to increase their value within their organization. The Cloud has allowed CIO’s to utilize technology to add a greater value to the busi-nesses they are working for. The CIO is no longer a caretaker of a particular service, but an executive that helps direct a great aspect of the business.

IT has evolved past the stereotype of a cost center. Rather IT has become an integral part to building and brokering the success of the organization. One question all CIO’s should ask is, how can deliver the services our company needs to grow?

CIO’s now have the ability to work towards adaptable and impactful technologies, rather than tending to infrastructure.

3. Realize Your Economic Consumption Utilize your knowledge of your organizations data utilization and needs to accurately consume the correct amount of data. From here calculate the power, tools, and labor you need to fully and properly utilize the new resource to properly develop your new tools.

4. Develop Your Roadmap to ServicesThe amount of users within your organization will drive your adoption of different services. With the Cloud, services have become a capability, rather than a simple piece of technology. Through the combination of services you can create a user experience that ultimately helps you reach the goal you are trying to achieve. As your different services develop it is imperative that you create a strategy that incorporates your users and goals. At this point it is important to ensure that the services you are evaluating will pragmatically help you bring your services to market.

In House Development CIO’s today must work together with other business leaders within the organization to evaluate outsourced environments to bring ideas for a dream to a reality. Through the internal development of your needs and wants, you will be better prepared to determine whether or not a public, private, or hybrid cloud is right for you. Differentiate There will be many technical differences between cloud or colocation technologies. Are you looking for a service that is handled internally, with routers and servers that can be controlled by an IT staff? Or are you looking for servers that are completely managed by another entity. The Cloud will change the way your IT staff operates and can be customized to your specific needs. Foundation What is your cloud built on? Underneath the Cloud Service Provider of your choice is a plethora of hardware choices. This architecture will determine the way in which you run your service, from its scalability, to its security and redundancy. At this stage you will determine whether you are looking for a multi-tenancy, or a private service.

The cloud offers a new development model. Traditionally infrastructure was build through a gathering of requirements, design, implementation, testing, and then operation. We can now have up to 60% of all your needs immediately met at the test-ing stage. You don’t have to create the perfect service out of the box, rather can add or remove services to customize your services to meet your exact need.

Fastblue Networks can help your company gain a competitive edge against your competition with a cloud solution that is build around your needs.

“A Successful Cloud Computing Strategy involves customizing services from one or more vendors. One way to do this is through an intermediary service provider: A Cloud Services Brokerage. A CSB can make it easier to consume and maintain cloud services, while reducing the cost and risk encountered when an enterprise tries to address issues alone.” – Gartner
