Before Before AfterAfter

I have decided to choose this image on the left, as this

image stood out the most. Firstly, I opened up Adobe Photoshop, and clicked on Start From Scratch. After this, I changed the page layout to A4. To edit the

image on the left, I first used the spot healing tool. I used

the tool, to remove any spots or blemishes from these two

models. I then clicked on Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur > 8-9 Pixels. After doing this I used the rubber tool, to rub out what I wanted to show

more clearly. I used the rubber tool on both models so then they stand out more

than the background, and the audience will mainly focus on

them. I then changed the layer to Luminosity to give a more blurred effect on the background and made sure

that it was 100%. After doing all this, I was happy with the end result (the image on the

right).

After editing the image, I started to work on the masthead. The

masthead of my music magazine will be called ‘Flava.’ The colour

scheme of this has changed from red, blue and black, to blue, white

and black. I have decided to change red to blue, as Abigail,

the model on the right, is wearing the colour blue. This will then

match up will my masthead and stay in the overall colour scheme.

For this masthead, I have used the font ‘Whoa!,’ as many people liked this due to the results I got

from conducting my questionnaire.

After doing this, I duplicated this layer, as I wanted to have a

backdrop of the colour white, so then this will match up with the

second model Taiena on the left. After duplicating this, I changed the colour to white and moved this underneath the ‘Layer 1’.

After doing this, I first made a big impact on the backdrop (the

image on the right) however, I was told I should tone it down a

bit to look more realistic and attractive. I then toned it down as you can see on the image on the

right.

33 44After doing the masthead, and

being happy with my end result, I moved onto the selling line. The

selling line of this music magazine is ‘The Voice of R&B.’ I

have decided to stick with the colour scheme, so I coloured this

is white. I then used the font ‘Hand Of Sean’ as this was the second most popular font from

my results from the questionnaire which I gave out to students. By putting this in the specific area where I wanted to place this, I

moved the masthead more upwards, so then there isn't a big gap between the masthead and

the selling line. After creating my selling line, I

started creating my issue number and the dateline. I decided to have these both on the right hand side on the right third. I

made up the issue number of this magazine and the date so then it will look more realistic and more professional just like a real music

magazine.

Page 5: Abi And Taiena

55 66After creating my selling line, dateline and issue number, I

started on my main cover line. My main cover line of this music magazine is about the two

models who are on the front cover. I have inserted their

names on the right side of the right third. I used the font

‘Broadway’ so then it will match with my dateline and issue

number at the top. I have also written the models names to be

used as model credit. After this, I ended up with the result on the left hand side. After this, I wrote

‘Exclusive’ to grab peoples attention to pick up this

magazine. I added a blue backdrop so then it will match

Abi’s hat and scarf and used the colour white to match Taiena’s

scarf. The colour scheme overall works really well.

I then wrote ‘First Major Interview’ as my main cover line. I have chosen this cover line as I believe that this relates to music and will be a good model credit to go overall with the music magazine. I used the colour white and stuck to the same font ‘Broadway’ so then my whole

magazine matches. Afterwards, I went on Google and found an image of a barcode. Once I

found the perfect one, I copied and pasted this onto my music magazine. I then rotated this 90’anticlockwise so then it will be a main convention that I have kept the same. I have placed this on the right hand side on the right third at the bottom. I then inserted a text box,

which I wrote the price on. I have decided to price this music magazine £2.60 due to the feedback I got from my questionnaires. I also rotated this and placed this on my barcode to look realistic and professional.

Page 7: Abi And Taiena

88 99As you can see on the left hand

side, this is how my music magazine looks like after I have placed a barcode with the price

on. I then started creating my first

cover line. This is called ’15 Shocking Celebrity Scandals’ and

inserted a few artists below. I kept to the colour scheme by

using blue and white. However, for this cover line, I have used the

font ‘Hand of Sean’ as this was second best from my research of

the questionnaires conducted. The size for this was 15pt

however the ’15’ was size 40pt as I wanted this to stand out from

the rest of the cover line to attract peoples attention to the

music magazine.

Page 8: Abi And Taiena

1010 1111For my next two cover lines, I also stuck to the same colour scheme of blue and white. I also used the

same font ‘Hand of Sean’ but I used different sizes to make the music magazine look different as I didn’t want all the cover lines to be exactly the same as the rest. I have chosen these cover lines, as I think this relates a lot to music especially R&B, as this is a R&B

music magazine.

Page 9: Abi And Taiena

1212 1313Lastly, I created my last cover

line. This als relates to music, so I have decided to choose this. I then used the same fonts and

colour as before, as I wanted to keep everything simple but

creative at the same time. The size for this was 30pt so then it

will stand out more and look attractive.

After this, I used the grid by clicking on View > Grid, so then I

can match up all my text correctly to make it look more attractive and more like a real magazine. I left aligned all the

text which was on the right. This included the cover lines as well as

the selling line. I also right aligned everything on the right

which include the main cover line, the dateline, issue number and

the barcode. As you can see, I edited the

barcode, as I written the date and the issue number to make the

magazine look more realistic and more professional.
