1. What will your app actually do?
• An app can do a million things
• Be clear on what you want it to do
• Do you want it to inform, drive data or entertain?

2. Do you want design and development or just
development?• It’s easy to mistake software for functionality
• You system won’t work on an app if you just design the app’s pages and ‘stick it on‘ your system
• Your system is separate to an app. What makes an app work is software, which must be developed whether you have a system or not.

3. Are there any 3rd party systems or websites
involved? • Does information need to be gathered from or
submitted to a 3rd party system?
• This very important information you need to tell your developer
• If you haven’t built the system or found one, it needs to be built or found!
• A good app developer should be able to build most systems for you or in the very least advise you on what is and isn’t necessary
