Contents

• The Technology – stack, electrolyte and what it

means for you

• The Product Range – Jabil manufactured modules

• The REDT Advantage – key benefits summarised

• Wind Case Study – community cooperation and

constrained wind

• PV Case Study – making solar work as it should

• Grid Services – earn more from your system

The Tech – Escape The Confines of the Cell

• Conventional batteries have fixed power and energy locked together in the cell

• Flow battery uses liquid

electrolyte contained outside

cell and pumped through it –

like car engine and fuel tank

• Liberates energy from power

component allowing long

duration storage that can be

scaled to your exact needs

The Stack – Designed for Deep Discharge

• Conventional batteries often damaged if discharged below 50%

• For this reason they are oversized relative to your requirement

• REDT design allows for

deep discharge – 100% to 0% and back without degradation

The Stack – Heart of the System

The Electrolyte – Life Extension

• Typical use lead acid battery life ~ 1,500 cycles

• Typical use lithium battery life ~ 5,000 cycles

• REDT battery life 10,000+ cycles – perfectly matched to most renewables

• All vanadium electrolyte still usable after this

More Uses = Higher Revenues

Financial

• Minimise connection and line upgrade costs

by peak-shaving and time-shifting

• Enable more rapid connection permitting

• Maximise supply revenue/savings – More energy to local demand

– Higher tariffs with peak power timing

– Arbitrage & trading opportunities

• Receive higher subsidy

• Reduce reactive power charges

• Hedge against rising power prices

• Additional payments from grid services

Quality

• Increased power quality – brownouts, asset life

• UPS & islanding functionality

• Autonomy – contract freedom

• Smart appliances & DC integration

Environment

• Increase renewables

penetration up to 100%

• Achieve zero emissions

• Facilitate EV charging

Grid Services – Leading Candidates

• Firm frequency response up to £60/kW/yr

• STOR up to £40/kW/yr

• Triad management

• DNO services – dependent on local factors

• Also consider FCDM, Fast Reserve
