Criterion A Assessment task for Year 9
This is a PRE & POST GAME STRATEGY AND OBSERVATION task
1. My name: ____Aash ____ Class __9E Yellow__ My Opponent _____ Hannah ____
2. Describe the strategy that you plan to use to defeat your opponent. Remember to justify
your choice of strategy. (Use many badminton terms appropriately).
The strategy I would plan to use to defeat my opponent would be to do more smashes and I
would make her run around the court more because sometimes she struggles to use thw
whole court (she only uses the front part of the court). The score was 9 / 11
3. Play the match
4. What was the outcome of the match? Score: ___21 / 9___ I WON LOST
(circle one)
5. (a) Was your strategy successful? (b) Did you adjust your plan? Why or why not?
My strategies were successful except for the one where I had move the shuttle from one
place to another. I think it was because she realized her weakness and also because it was a
little hard for me to use the strategy against her, because she was doing the same thing.
6. If you were going to play this opponent again what things would you like to try
differently?
If I play with my opponent once again I would ignore the fact that she knows my weaknesses
and work on it as same as try to use hers against my opponent.
7. Assume that this would be a medal match at an upcoming competition. How might you
train to improve your chances against this opponent? What specific skills or tactics do you
need, to improve your game?
If I could, I would try work on my serves and also my use of space around the court and try
to throw the shuttle in the other places more because I usually pass it to the person than
rather throwing it somewhere else.
